Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Friday called for a constitutional convention of states to offer nine amendments in order to “restore the Rule of Law and return the Constitution to its intended purpose.”

“The increasingly frequent departures from Constitutional principles are destroying the Rule of Law foundation on which this country was built,” said Abbott in a statement.

“We are succumbing to the caprice of man that our Founders fought to escape. The cure to these problems will not come from Washington D.C. Instead, the states must lead the way.”

<> All the stupid, silly and harmful results since the first Constitutional Convention have been from our “elected representatives” being somewhat immune to societal scrutiny on a timely basis<>

Well said. There is a tremendous difference between the people acting in their Article I electoral and Article V sovereign capacities!

At an Article V convention, the states serve as agents of the civil society.

Probably did not take very long for the Reps to figure out that very few were actually watching what they do much less paying attention. Peddle a wee bit of pork before election time and its reelection for life.

If they won't obey the Constitution we have now, why should we expect them to obey an amended one? James Madison was right to call the Constitution a "parchment barrier." Ultimately we the people need to enforce it.

Basically, the Constitution is an agreement between the public and the Feds. We agree to obey any laws passed in accordance with it, and they agree not to pass any laws not in accordance with it.

clearly that agreement has been breached by the Feds. If they're not bound by it, we're not either.
