Ryan Scores Dual Wins With Obamacare Repeal Vote
Real Clear Politics via MSN ^ | 1/07/15 | James Arkin

**SNIP**

For Ryan, Wednesday's vote represented two victories. First, he has bragging rights as the speaker who forced Obama to use the eighth veto of his presidency to protect the health care law. Secondly, having pushed the limits of repealing Obamacare and defunding Planned Parenthood as far as a veto override, the issue is likely now settled until after the election.

"The good news is, with this reconciliation bill, there will finally be some clarity," Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) told the Washington Post Tuesday. "The president will very glibly veto it. But at least then it will be on him and everybody will know it."

This frees Ryan to push the House toward what he envisions for 2016: outlining major policy initiatives that set a clear distinction between Republicans and the White House.

"Ultimately, this is going to require a Republican president," Ryan said of repealing the law. "That's why our top priority in 2016 is going to be offering the country a clear choice with a bold, pro-growth agenda."

The “issue is likely settled until after the election” talk is surrender and political BS crap.

Nothing more than bread and circuses from the GOPe.

Yes. And vote in the Senate. Let him veto it. Take override votes. Later, Rinse, Repeat. Do it over and over.

Put the Rino’s and liberals ON RECORD over and over and over for something the people do not want.

Anyone seriously think electing a Republican in 2016 will change this? Not unless Trump or Cruz FORCES them to change. Rubio won’t. Paul won’t. Frankly I’m only about 60% sure Cruz and Trump will stop this crap.

Could have done this in the budget bill. Fortunately, Ryan won’t be in Congress after the next election - either via primary, or Conservatives simply skipping over his name in the general.

“Obama would have shut the gov down.”

How did that argument work back in 2013? Did Obama get the blame? No, didn’t think so.

“Well if the objective is to end funding for Planned Parenthood and defund Obamacare then how will this accomplish anything?”

Do you have a plan that would have ended funding for PP and Obamacare? A government shutdown won’t work so what’s your plan?

“No way would it be accomplished without a shutdown.”

You won’t get it with a shutdown either. So what’s your plan that doesn’t involve a shutdown?

Just don't pass something like this and then crow and thump your chest and pretend that anything has been accomplished.

Would we get it with a ‘shutdown’ that ran for a year or year and a half until an election came around for the people to speak?
Hard to say.

We’d sure have a decision though.

....and republicans won the senate, more house seats, and governorships of Maryland, Mass, and Illinois in 2014. They sure got the blame alright, and the people rewarded them for it.

...A government shutdown won't work so what's your plan?

Since your premise is imaginary (unless you can prove that you can see the future) no response is necessary; indeed, no response is rational.

Nice try though.

This is what I’ve been urging the Republicans to do. Pass it and get it to his desk and make him veto it — then use that veto as an issue against the Democrats. I don’t know what took them so long, but Ryan’s doing the right thing here.

I guess it’s a disappointment only if your real objective was a government shutdown.

Explain how a "govt shutdown" is a bad thing and how it accomplishes funding the treasonists in the white house?

“Who’s Ryan’s primary opponent, I’d love to s be them a check?!”

Good question. Following passage of the Ryan/McConnell/Obummer ombibus spending bill I heard reports that a conservative might be recruited to challenge Lyin’ Ryan, but I haven’t heard anything further since then.

Your comment above wins the Post of the Week Award, Slambat!

You hit the nail right on the head...all the rest is chatter.

Ryan manipulated it so that now he and the other Republican RINO sluggards will now look good to their dumbkopf home voters with THIS dead-on-arrival vote...while all of them actually gave Obama EVERYTHING he wanted in the omnibus bill a couple weeks ago.

This article reads like an "Onion" parody. Who actually believes "Dual Victor Ryan" and the lyin' enemedia and the arrogant RINOs and all this obfuscation crap!!!!

The only “win” I care about, is the total destruction of BarryCare and the salting of the political earth to see that its like never sees the light of day again.

We were supposed to have rid the world of fascists back in my fathers era. Not vote them into office in this one.
