Trump Playing Both Sides of Cruz Birtherism.
On Thursday, Donald Trump tweeted, ".@SenTedCruz Ted--free legal advice on how to pre-empt the Dems on citizen issue. Go to court now & seek Declaratory Judgment--you will win!"
Trump's tweet is the latest in a series of statements wherein he seems to be simultaneously fanning the flames on Cruz birtherism, and saying it won't be an issue.
On Wednesday, according to CNN, he said, "How do you run against the Democrat, whoever it may be, and you have this hanging over your head if they bring a lawsuit?"
"This was not my suggestion. I didn't bring this up. A reporter asked me this question," Trump said. He also repeated his assertion that Cruz has a Canadian passport, which Cruz denied during a separate interview Wednesday with CNN's Dana Bash.

How about you give me 20 to 1 odds? Cruz is going to win right?
One ‘C’ note to FR. If Cruz take the nomination I pay FR. I you lose you pay FR.
-— Cruz needs a definitive judgement NOW to be considered as VP. —
Trump needs to release his CAT scans now so we can be sure that he doesn’t have Alzheimer’s, like his father did. We need a definitive judgement NOW.
Trump almost every day has me saying oh no! what is he saying!? then I remember all his words are systematic. He does his negotiating by instinct and he is very good. His praise for Putin is probably part of his strategy for future negotiations with Putin which Putin would not get the best of. There is a reason for his treatment of the birth issue here and it is not to smack down Cruz. I think we may even find there is a reason for the video having Berbers storming the fence in Morocco.
Good grief...that’s the best you got? LOL!
lol...
The Marxo-Demo-Proggies will absolutely make it an issue when it will damage the Republican Party the most. Bet on it. These guys are sociopaths.
Did you know that Trump had Alzheimer's for six years? Fred Trump. Donald's father.
Look, that doesn't mean that Donald has it. I'm not saying that Trump has Alzheimer's.
But some people have suggested it. So it's something Trump is going to have to deal with.
If he really wanted to clear the air he would have released all of his medical records by now. Where are the CAT scans? Is he hiding something?
Trump's a nice guy. I want to help him. But he's terrible. And he probably has Alzheimer's.
Re:”Only someone like Trump would offer a former solicitor general, who has argued before SCOTUS multiple times, legal advice.
It makes as much sense as Cruz advising Trump how to stay out of bankruptcy.”
Ouch.
That’s gonna leave a mark.
Carry on.
Cruz, in his own words in 2011, supported anchor babies.
Cruz, in his own words in 2015, denied he supported anchor babies.

They might want to, but after all the "no-standing" rulings from higher courts when Barry Sotero was challenged, they would be demonstrating contempt for the previous rulings and duplicity. Unless they can show that Grayson is or could potentially suffer damages personally, I think it is a no-go.
If Trump is so concerned he might be able to show personal damages as a rival candidate. I think that he could be a plaintiff and bring suit, but at great political risk, so he will probably just keep making snarky innuendo.
That would do us all a favor. We need a definition for natural born citizen.
Also....If Trump wins the Presidency, I wonder if he will do anything about the fake birth certificate posted by Obama. Trumps seem to be a man who doesn't like to lose.
I've seen that... lol...
Since you obviously do not understand logic in context of an ongoing conversation, let me clue you in. Pay attention. You are lost.....here’s how this works.
I’ve never said Cruz is going to win.....let alone guaranteed it. You, on the other hand, have made it clear there is no chance Trump is going to lose. Thus the burden to give odds is on your arrogant ass, and not on my circumspect brain. In fact, I’d predict Trump if it were even odds, but what it is not yet is a slam dunk. Thus, I’d be willing to roll the dice.
This is how odds work. Google it if you’re not sure. And remember, context is important. Words out of context are worse than useless.
Loretta Fuddy is not available for comment.
Let it sit. Wave around how he augured cases before SCOTUS, and that will make it settled?
I don't necessarily disagree. But, assuming Cruz does want to settle this matter, he needs to wait until a proper defendant is identified.
With this type of declaratory judgment, it's not enough to tell a court - look, I think someone, somewhere might sue me in court and test my eligibility at some time.
Now, if a secretary of state or a board of election somewhere indicated they were going to keep him off the ballot that may be enough for the suit to proceed. Or, a regular joe or political operative who tells the press they are lawyered up and ready to file suit.
In other words, there needs to be a clear indication suit will be filed against him on this matter and/or that he is in actual danger of being kept off a ballot in a place he would otherwise be qualified.
You, on the other hand, have made it clear there is no chance Trump is going to lose.
Pretty damn good chance he takes it.
I'd predict Trump if it were even odds, but what it is not yet is a slam dunk. Thus, I'd be willing to roll the dice
What's the bet then? Be specific?
But I'll start anyway.
Cruz has to win at least a total of 8 primary or caucus states for you win. If Cruz does not I win.
The bet: pay FR one "C" note. Straight up even odds. I pay $100 or you $100 to FR.
not doing even odds......sweeten it a bit and we have a deal. My winnings will go to my wife’s Non profit ministry in Uganda (and soon to Nicaragua).
