The battle over the Keystone XL oil pipeline reignited Wednesday afternoon with a lawsuit against the Obama administration charging the White House unfairly, illegally and unconstitutionally killed the project last year.
In its lawsuit, TransCanada, the Canadian company proposing the massive project, asserts that President Obama â who blocked Keystone as part of a larger plan to control greenhouse-gas emissions and fight global warming â exceeded his constitutional authority in rejecting the project. The company also filed a separate action claiming the presidentâs decision was âarbitrary and unjustifiedâ and violated the North American Free Trade Agreement.
âTransCanadaâs legal actions challenge the foundation of the U.S. administrationâs decision to deny a presidential border crossing permit for the project,â the company said in a statement. âIn its decision, the U.S. State Department acknowledged the denial was not based on the merits of the project. Rather, it was a symbolic gesture based on speculation about the perceptions of the international community regarding the administrationâs leadership on climate change and the presidentâs assertion of unprecedented, independent powers.â
TransCanada filed its suit in U.S. federal court in Houston.

Their is NO down side to this other than the U.S. becoming even less dependent on foreign oil.
Caliph Ubama can't have that.

Canadian oil is still foreign oil.
More secure, better trade partner, lots of advantages.
But the Keystone XL won’t reduce dependence on foreign oil.
But I’ll take Canadian Oil over Venezuelan Oil any day and twice on Sunday.
Best news all day. I almost cracked a smile.
