Coulter: Cruz is not a natural born citizen
The Hill ^

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter, who has been boosting Donald Trump for president, took to Twitter on Wednesday to declare that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is not a natural born citizen.

Ann Coulter @AnnCoulter

Same lawyers who said anchor babies are in the Constitution now tell us being born outside U.S to 1 American parent = natural born citizen.

Ann Coulter @AnnCoulter

NYT: Cruz was born outside the U.S. to 1 American parent: "Under the Constitution this makes him a 'natural born citizen.'” Absolutely false

Coulter joins Trump in questioning whether Cruz can legally be president.

“Republicans are going to have to ask themselves the question: ‘Do we want a candidate who could be tied up in court for two years?’ That’d be a big problem,” Trump told The Washington Post on Tuesday.

I believe you’re right.

Can you please provide a cite/link to the congressional resolution that clarified the question?

According to the Department of State, only one parent is needed.

Cruz’s mother is an American citizen by birth, therefore, Cruz is an American citizen by birth - and we know he does not require naturalization in order to be a citizen.

If he doesn’t require naturalization, the only thing left is natural born citizen status. Otherwise, he’s in citizen limbo.

Coulter is a douche who has supported evey RINO (e.g. Romney and Christie) every election cycle. She’s been dead to me for years. Which RINO is she supporting this time?

Nope, not so, the rules are muddy and murky. That's why there is so much confusion. Akin to the so-called "Constitutional" separation of church and state, which was largely due to a letter penned by Thomas Jefferson and not in the Constitution. For instance, if Obama was born in Kenya to his mother who was an American citizen, citizenship would not be conferred on Obama because his mother wasn't old enough to have satisfied the rules of having been in the USA long enough for her age. So not automatic citizenship even if his mother was an American citizen. (I'm not saying that he was born in Kenya, just using this as an example of the rules.)

Originally, the founders resolution only applied if the father was an American citizen, later altered to cover either father or mother. And even then, it didn't apply to non-whites. Later on, the 14th Amendment covered blacks. Still didn't cover Asians and some others. That was decided even later on. The laws were murky into the 20th century. At this point of time, it really doesn't matter if they confer citizenship on everyone, because the reality is that the rules have always been bent to satisfy political intent.

No the rules are clear as can be.

You want them to be murky.

Anyone who is automatically a citizen at birth is a natural born citizen. What else could they be?

Use your brain.

NO- Someone born to TWO citizen parents is considered a NBC. The threshold for President or Vice President is ONLY for two positions in the entire country- no matter the population count. IT’S NOT COMPLICATED!

Show us that anywhere in the law.

It is nonsense; the law says that anyone born to an adult that is a citizen is automatically a citizen.

You are murky, and not using your brain. This issue is contested by millions on either side. You think it’s all one-sided? You are delusional. It is definitely murky. For instance, the 14th Amendment was passed to grant citizenship to former black slaves born in America. They were not automatically citizens even though they were born here. The 14th Amendment was created for the sole purpose of rectifying that injustice. Even then, citizenship was questionable for others if they weren’t white or black. Citizenship was withheld from many Asians right up into the 20th century. If it wasn’t murky, why was the issue of citizenship fought over for Asians long after the 14th Amendment? Rules were murky, and still are. You are deluded or brain dead.

Cruz- Father NOT American citizen at time of birth.
Obama- Father NOT American citizen at time of birth.

Ruling: Individuals without parent citizens (plural) at time of birth- NOT qualified.

Coulter, as usual, is just as wrong as you are: totally.

Cruz was born a citizen under our laws.

Pornography is NOW PROTECTED under the First Amendment. The founding father’s grandparent’s generation dunked women suspected of witchcraft under water. The intention of establishing a higher threshold for the Presidency, and Vice Presidency, was established on an allegiance factor. Contemplating wall to wall pornography 24/7, and someone born to a Kenyan- named Barrack Hussein Obama, wasn’t in the cards. Pound sand.

Oh, you think all laws are on solid ground? Then why all the interpretation that goes on, with appeals up to the Supreme Court? Laws are most definitely murky. That’s why the smart half of the population are up in arms about what Obama is doing, allowing judges to make laws rather than apply them. You are most definitely brain dead.

Mistaken ruling:
