CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Margery Hadar, who began playing golf three years ago, made the most of a Sunday round at Granada Golf Course by recording TWO holes-in-one.

The 73-year-old New York resident, using a driver that she called, "the best club in my bag," holed out on the 164-yard [492-feet] No.5 hole and nearly 30 minutes later on the 112-yard [336-feet] No.7 hole.

The 1923 Donald Ross layout is touted as South Florida's oldest continuous operated par-3 course.

I play every day online and I don’t think I’ve ever gotten 1. A couple of eagles on par 5s and a couple of nice long chip ins.

Exciting! I got my first ace 3 years ago - 127 yard par 3 using a 7 iron and still remember the thrill. Can’t imagine getting another one let alone 2 in one round!

Huh. I wonder how rare two in one go is. Are we talking like baseball perfect game rare?

Given the number of people who play golf compared to those who pitch baseball, I’d say a hole in 1 is probably rarer.

We have had an Opti-shot golf simulator in my hubby’s man cave for 4 years now. There are 3 of us who play nearly every day during the winter and there has been only 1 ace recorded.

I might have gotten 1 as an amateur on the game but that was a long time ago when the game was giving me all the breaks. Things have gotten considerably tougher since I reached the tour pro level.

Good on her but I don’t think the USGA will certify them.

Nothing says great golf like a 112 yard shot with a driver!!!

But it’s a par 3 - not certifiable...but a great story anyway.

(BTW, I think Freddie Couples also has 2 aces to his name.....there is more luck than skill in holes in one. I know, I have 2 certified, and I was maybe a 15 handicap when I got one and maybe a 20 when I got the other.

Doubt she cares a whit about that! She’s 73, a gal and playing par 3 to begin with.

From the article:

Hadar, who last measured her handicap last year at “above-30,” said that she is a women’s league member at Sag Harbor (N.Y.) Golf Club.

“There wasn’t a bar in the clubhouse, otherwise I’m sure that I would have been obligated to pick up the tab,” joked Hadar. “My dad was a great golfer and had one hole-in-one. He would have been so happy to see me do this.”

I’m the very definition of a hack. I love to play but I’m awful...but I did get an Ace two years ago on a par three. My wife was still alive at the time and she started yelling “it went in, it went in” I thought, of course, that was talking about either the water or the woods!

I have no idea myself, but is the ground around each hole on a golf course sloped even a little such that the ball has some ‘help’ rolling in? Or is it perfectly level?

They’re practically never level, but I find that hurts more than helps in most situations. (nothing helps me ;)) There’s also several different hole placements on every green, so if you played yesterday and liked that placement you may show up today and the hole is ten yards behind and to the left of where you liked it.

They're practically never level

I meant deliberately sloped in order that the ball has some help rolling in.
