More than half of Donald Trump's supporters say they are strongly committed to voting for him, according to the results of the latest NBC News/SurveyMonkey online tracking poll released Tuesday, the first national poll of 2016.
Overall, the Manhattan mogul commanded the support of 35 percent of the Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters who were surveyed over the past week, while Texas Sen. Ted Cruz came in second place with 18 percent support.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio earned 13 percent, followed by 9 percent for Ben Carson, 6 percent for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, 4 percent for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and 3 percent for Carly Fiorina, according to the full results shared first on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

That is what I don’t get. The same people who will go back 27 years to find a time when some candidate voted in some way they don’t like cannot be bothered to take ten minutes to look at Donald Trump’s positions on - for just one example, Abortion.
Lies, All Lies. Trump isn't a threat. Jeb will survive.
Just keep whistling in the dark.
He peaked last year!
"Overall, the Manhattan mogul commanded the support of 35 percent of the Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters ..." Note: this poll includes 'leaners' who may or may not vote Republican. Again not a reliable poll for future results.
Well, the slander starts once someone says anything a trumpeter dislikes or disagrees with. You are not winning the discussion by ad hominem attacks, but in fact losing any support I may or may not give your Trumpster.
And if your boy loses the nomination, then what? Who will you smear then? Don’t like the message? Obvious solution is shoot the damn messenger and that takes care of the problem, correct?
Perhaps its the people who are attacking Trump that need to do their homework before pulling out the knives. I see nothing to quarrel with in Trump’s explanation and evolution, a great many people have traveled the same path he did on that issue.
“In 2011, Trump has recently said numerous times that he is pro-life on abortion and that he changed his views from supporting abortion to pro-life based on his relationships with close personal friends who had children. Their pregnancy experiences, Trump maintains, allowed him to mature on the abortion issue to the point of now opposing abortion.
In an April interview with the Des Moines Register newspaper, Trump expanded on those comments.
“If you look at it, I said, “It really, really troubles me, and it really, really bothers me, the whole concept of abortion.” This was years ago, and even then it really bothered me, but I went on the other side of the line,” Trump said. “But in thinking about it over the years, I’ve had instances, and one instance in particular, a friend had a child who they were going to abort, and now they have it, and the child is incredible. And the man, he changed his views also because of that.”
“As I’ve grown older, as I’ve seen things happen in life, I’ve changed my views - and others have also,” he said.
There are no truly reliable polls as we have seen time and time again. As polls go this is well constructed with a large sample size and people who are at least registered. You take any poll with a grain of salt because it may all change with the wind. There’s lots of time for upturns before the election which is why I don’t savage any viable candidate.
So Jeb and Rubio split a bump from the other RINOs who dropped out, and Trump continues to rock.
Keep telling yourself that. The way the polls change dramatically in sync with campaign events indicates that people are very well aware.
Trump had a very good holiday season. He sent out classy Christmas cards while you-know-who descended into a campaign donation frenzy. And look what happened. Trump's lead is increased.
Just look at his current potions, no need to go back to what he actually thought in the past of which has shown no tangible evidence of repudiating, just words - never, never trust a politician, no matter how nice and cozy his rhetoric makes you feel - remember, he is just saying what he believes you want to hear to get you vote.
If all the politicians I heard speak actually did/believed what they claimed prior to being elected, I’d still be a commercial fisherman living on the West Coast making a really good 6-7 figure living ...
potions=positions
That map is why I support Trump. He's the only one who can move blue states into the red. With Trump PA and NJ are in play. I won't go so far as to predict NY going for Trump, but it's possible.
If we don't disrupt the losing pattern of McCain and Romney, and the near losing pattern of Bush in 2000, we're done as a national party. Trump's pro-American stand against open borders can bring back the working class who've been driven out of the process by globalists of all parties.
Good lord you people are delusional.
Knives? I didn’t pull out any knives.
But I do find it remarkable the degree of trust placed in someone with no political track record, but a long personal track record that is really anathema to everything so-called Conservatives say they believe in.
It’s as if hating Mexicans is enough for many people.
Online (Internet) poll, self-selecting participants. There is a reason RCP does not include polls like this in its averages...
Good point. Money-grubbing by Trump's opponents is extremely tacky. It's impossible to imagine Trump ever sending out an email headed, "Melania Is Worried Sick."
Since last poll Trump +7 “Surging Ted” flat, Empty pyramid -9. Senior Amnesty +2. Looks like Senior Amnesty and “Surging Ted” are fighting it out for first among also rans.
Yes...The reason RCP doesn’t include them is because they are favorable to Trump.
‘Trump also leads the way among those describing themselves as white evangelicals (35 percent to Cruzâs 21 percent)’
Perhaps images of that creepy tattoo poster Cruz is hawking for campaign cash are starting to circulate, and are not proving as popular with evangelicals as Cruz supporters predicted they would be.
