You’ve brought up some legitamite reasons to seriously examine Trump’s qualifications. My thoughts regarding him are that:

1. I recognize the fact that he is a recent convert to conservatism, and I also recognize that some of his moral failings are indefensible.

2. When it comes to what he would do in governing the country, it’s a big unknown what he will do on moral, social issues - unless we take him at his word. Is he a consistent liar or not?

3. I know what Hillary will do. I know what Sanders will do. I guess I would take a chance on the unknowns of Trump. If he doesn’t keep his word, then that’s on him with us and God.

4. I look at the man’s enemies. The people who hate him are the same people who hate you and me. The media hate him, the DNC hate him, the GOPe hate him, the illegal immigrant lobby hate him, etc. if he is so much like the other side, then why do they hate him so much?

I’m not saying you’re wrong - just some thoughts of my own.

That’s easy....he has 69 years of supporting both vocally and financially liberals and liberal propositions. I don’t believe his convenient conversion because he has DONE nothing that shows his conversion is real. Coupled with at least two occasions of violating the most sacred trust...that of protecting the security of his children’s home and the vows to his wives.

Now why do you believe him? What has he DONE not just spouted in the last year that shows his conversion is real and not just calculated. And what has he DONE that shows he is now worthy of trust after so willfully and deliberately destroying it.

Trump’s “questionable morals’:
#1 Divorced several times
#2 ‘Filthy (earned) rich’.
............................................................
A bit of correction here. We have to eliminate #1 because Trump was NOT divorced several times. The definition of “Several” is “more than two.” Trump was divorced two times, therefore Not several times which would have required three divorces.
#2 Filthy rich. Can’t be a republican and call someone filthy rich. Republicans stand for Free Enterprise and THE AMERICAN DREAM. Trump is a product of those factors, wealth earned through hard work and smarts.
So it seems Trumps questionable morals list is faulty.

Hillary’s list is much longer than is stated here and getting longer by the day.

From the evidence, the person saying there is no difference is sadly mistaken and obviously no Republican.

Um..it was all over that paper...the documentaries I spoke of showed covers for the Post. Front page - Blaring his indiscretions. So you can jump up and down and stick your fingers in your ears and sing La,La,La....doesn’t change the facts.

So...whatever.

You really need to Read it yourself. You can buy it used or borrow at a library.
The Trump family is the American Dream on steroids. His grandmother a German immagrant was widowed with three children.
His dad blew open the corruption of political hacks in NY in congressional hearing . After that he was supportive and supported his hero IKE.
They have had to deal with not just corruotion of politicians but the various ethnic mobs to build in NYC. (By the way he was the first to add a garage to a house) Uncle John Trump. Do a wiki on.
Trump worked for his father painting or doing yard work every weekend. Attended church with family on Sunday
The book is over 500 pages. Very detailed with pages and pages of supportive documentation not just interviews and opinion. Very open and gives all sides of all parts of their lives.

You’re delusional to think that Trump = Hillary. Delusional.

So, just to be clear....everyone who disagrees with you and thinks trump is a poor choice is automatically not a republican? Good to know. How did you get appointed to be the Arbiter of All Things Republican? Sounds like a good gig.

"They love the guy. They show up in his rallies. They're cheering. But a lot of them, why, they don't really plan to go to the trouble of voting!"

I don't get the logic of this line of thought.

It is a lot harder to show up to a rally then to vote.

Voting takes maybe a half hour if the lines are really long and requires no advanced planing.

Going to a rally is at least a four hour commitment and required advanced planing.

I believe IQs of 70 is generous. You’re talking about voters who elected Zero TWICE and have been utterly butt hurt by a so-called ‘conservative’ Republican Congress many of whom have been re-elected several times.. Yup, 70 IQ is extremely generous. Trump is probably still talking over most voters heads.......

Thanks for the thoughtful, free of vitriol response. You have beautifully summed up my struggles with the concept of a trump nomination.

I completely agree with your point #3. I personally do not like Trump, but as between Trump on the one hand, and Clinton and Sanders on the other, I’m starstruck by Trump.

If you and others would rather have Hillary rather than someone who is a job producer and calls Islamist terrorism for what it is, then I guess we will have a Hillary Presidency. I’ll take Trump. Don’t trust Ted at all.
..............................................................
Very well said. I agree.

"we believe that there is a high likelihood that trump will be AS damaging to the republic as the she-witch".

========================================================= It's amazing the things people put in writing...

How do you know? What Trump and his supporters are asking us to believe is that everything he’s DONE in his life...why that was just for business, he didn’t really BELIEVE any of that...BUT NOW solely on the strength of his WORDS we are to believe that this....this is the real Trump.

So again, how do you KNOW which Trump is the real one?

This is why the Democrats win so often. Conservatives vote their conscience, liberals vote to win.

That may be true, but there is another aspect you are not taking into account. The reason that Democrat voters can vote for their second-favorite Democrat is because they know that regardless of which Democrat gets in, that guy will move the country left. The Republicans, on the other hand, rarely if ever move the country right. Instead, they simply slwo the rate of leftward creep (sometimes). So, a conservative can never truly feel at ease when voting Republican, while a leftwing nutbag can feel entirely at ease voting Democrat. Ask yourself this: when is the last time A Democrat in office did anything remotely conservative? Now ask when the last time was that a Republican in office did something liberal? See?

Just for illustrative purposes). If Stalin and Hitler were on the ballot, who would you vote for? Or would you abstain?
.........................................................
Very poor illustration of a comparative choice. The American people already had that choice and supported Stalin and the Russian people during the Second World War against Hitler.

They show up at the rally’s because he is a celebrity. Voting is to much work for them, even though it would only take 20 minutes.
