Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are locking horns in a few early voting states, but when it comes to states that vote later in the season, Trump seems to have a noticeable advantage. He leads among likely Missouri Republican primary voters 36-24%, with Marco Rubio not too far behind tallying 18%.

So, do the American people support tyranny? I think millions do.

No. For the millionth time. Face reality, this is NOT a “two-man race.” Rubio is not dropping out. He will pretty much assemble the GOPe vote. Cruz will come in 2nd or 3d, meaning he’ll lose every winner take all. But Trump will come in 1st or 2nd in every proportional, meaning he’ll have about 850 delegates by March. You can stop this stupid “second choice” screen every time you post. It’s simply a fraud.

I agree. Tens of millions of Americans support tyranny. The same Americans could not define tyranny if you handed them a dictionary.

Honestly, I was much less vocal about my concerns about Cruz until when just expressing them got such disgusting, insulting, directed responses from some of his supporters.

As far as "who's a conservative" is concerned, it all depends on who's defining it. At this horrific juncture in US history, my definition of conservative is who will save the US. That involves closing borders if necessary, US jobs to US workers, tariffs to stop unfair trade, not more trade deals. Send home invaders. The other stuff? If we don't save the US we'll be living under a weird combination of "Black Lives Matter" chaos and Sharia Law.

So, yeah, I'm with Trump. But you know what? I have NEVER directly insulted a Cruz supporter. You don't do that.....maybe you can speak to your buddies.

Most voters hate to vote for a loser if there is another palatable candidate on the ballot. If the campaign reaches the point early when the overwhelming majority of voters see Rubio, Christie, and Jeb as unelectable, the size of the GOPe vote will sharply decrease and it will not matter whether Rubio officially withdraws or not. To rule out the possibility of a two man race before the Iowa caucus would be foolish.

I have struggled to not respond to the many Cruz bashers on FR in kind because if I ultimately vote for Trump, I do not want to feel like I am holding my nose as I do so. I will acknowledge that many Cruz supporters have engaged in similar attacks against Trump, but Cruz has refrained from initiating personal attacks against other candidates, including Trump. I will continue to judge Cruz and Trump based on their own actions and words and not on the words of their other supporters.

Ever heard of this Overtime Politics outfit? They’ve been putting out polls everywhere but have never heard of them before.

You don’t stop with your ridiculous posting of 1st/2nd choices. It means nothing. Focus on the 1st choices, but you won’t because it doesn’t fit your narrative.

I think that YUGE enthusiastic crowds everywhere trumps anything that the rivals can offer.

Lincoln: a one term congressman, a state legislator, a veteran of the Black Hawk Wars, and had made a name for himself in the Lincoln-Douglass debates and in certain court cases prior to 1860.

(This is not to say that Donald Trump is a billionaire “and nothing else.”)

Lincoln the worst President? I suppose that makes Buchanan the best President. Or would that be Jefferson Davis?

Lincoln, like all the other boys who died in the Civil War, gave his life for his country.

If Trump made Cruz Attorney General, that would result in Cruz having the senior executive experience needed to be a better presidential candidate later.

If you can find out who gives them money.

Then just follow the money trail and you will know how their polls will turn out before they are done.

You don’t understand the mentality of the GOPe. Loser or not, they will back Rubio and will NOT back either Cruz or Trump. So Cruzers pinning their hopes on getting ALL the GOPe voters, well, ain’t gonna happen.

Just one correction: until about four years ago, Trump gave about equally to each side. He has only given to Republicans recently. My sense is that the drift of the Democratic Party into the radical left-wing agenda became too much for him. Curiously, his probable opponent in the general will be a candidate that, in 2008, represented the centrist position within the Democratic Party; although, in 1992, she was to the left of center within that party.

The problem with your second choice theory is that many of the Trump/Cruz votes overlap.

Trump is my first choice and Cruz my second. For me to vote for Cruz, Trump would have to drop out and that isn’t going to happen.

Every state has the right to secede from the Union. Every state has always had that right.

Lincoln fought the Civil War against one of the bedrock principles in the Declaration—the right to secede.
