Three of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy's sons and what they claim are 150 militia members have occupied a federal building in eastern Oregon in order to keep two local ranchers out of prison, according to local reports.

The group is believed to be heavily-armed.

According to The Oregonian, the group seized the headquarters building at Malheur National Wildlife Refuge about 50 miles outside Burns, Ore. The remote facility was closed and unoccupied at the time.

Bundy and his supporters were in Oregon after two men were scheduled to go to prison on Monday for setting fires on federal land, according to a report by Oregon Public Broadcasting. The case has caused a stir in eastern Oregon because the two men were charged under anti-terrorism laws.

This is the way these things start. There are many false starts before it becomes real.

It has been done before in areas where the Feds crave to expand so called park land and owners are averse to selling. Back in the 70s and 80s these things resulted in Park Service faux drug raids that killed the landowners and obliterated their houses and outbuildings whereupon the properties were seized. Half a dozen of these became causes celebres. This progression seemed to have culminated in the Ruby Ridge and Koresh operations, though land was not the target in those. I know not whether the seizures stopped for a few years or we just quit hearing about them until this one.

I'm sure 0bama and Loretta Lynch are dancing over this. Finally getting their white boogeyman.

Don't think they haven't tried. We've known about incidents where radical muslims have fallen for sting operations, 'tea party patriots' certainly had to have been similarly investigated yet none have taken the bait (so far, if it has been attempted).

“The question here is the imposition of a longer sentence AFTER time has been served.”

This is the crux of the matter. Can the Feds come back and demand longer sentences after time has been served and the incarcerated have already been released?

If this is the true situation, then it might be time the Tree of Liberty get some water.

“”They should go to prison. Who are these freaks? Possibly endangering people and wildlife and for what? What gives them the right to do this?””

The first time they did it was to cover up a crime scene. A crime they were later convicted of due to testimony from family and individuals who actually witnessed it.

So if they’re all in one place then it’ll be easy for the authorities to surround it and keep them there.

This would be a classic “ex post facto” miscarriage of justice. Not the least bit surprising out of this lawless administration.

They were burning backfires to protect their property from brushfires as it has been reported. Apparently, their fire managed to not to recognize the federal land border and ended up burning some of it.

That is all that I know now of the incident other than some of this federal land was confiscated from the local ranchers for this “Preserve”.

But, they were absolutely wrong to take over anything and needed to keep their powder dry for just one more year. The Hammonds are reported to being willingly to reporting for prison tomorrow morning while this whole mess is adjudicated, most likely kangaroo, but none the less willing to spend their time more as an act of civil disobedience and using their incarceration as their act in that process to bring attention to the tyranny.

I agree these hotheads just gave Obama what he has been seeking since the 2012 re-election.

Don’t celebrate Barky’s victory prematurely. The feds have about the lowest respect ever polled. Virtually everyone still conscious knows they are out of bounds and thoroughly illegal. Where the tipping point is would be anyone’s guess.

Not celebrating anything but just sayin’ that he has been on a tear to create that “crisis” that he can use his bestowed powers of an EO that he signed years ago that gave him the ability to declare Martial Law with his defining the “crisis” by his own terms.

Now, he does it at his own peril because he believes in the omnipotent illusion of the Federal Leviathan because of the same DC cocoon the entire establishment lives in. Remember, the American Revolution only had about 30% support before and immediately after it started. How many veterans still have and remember the skills that are in sympathy with today’s 30%?

As I wrote in another thread, the federal government needs to use whatever force necessary to protect public property, arrest these militia, jail them, convict them, and send them to prison. As an American, a veteran, I say zero tolerance to inciting rebellion and taking up arms against the US. These thugs are no better than the people rioting in Baltimore, occupying Wall Street, etc. They are definitely not someone any red-blooded American conservative should be supporting.

Yeah, I hated the Founding Fathers, too.

What good does it do to fight tyranny when you’re not armed. 2A exists for such a time as this.

Where in the 2nd does it allow the federal government to infringe on the protected right to bare arms in buildings owned by the People?
