U.S. Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz speaks at a campaign stop in Johnston, Iowa, on Dec. 4, 2015. (Reuters) |
Jackson raved about Cruz's "authentic faith in Jesus Christ" and has committed to back him up in his quest for the White House.
"It is absolutely essential and urgent that we elect a godly President who reveres our Constitution, honours our Judeo-Christian values and respects the freedom of the American people. After eight years of 'fundamental transformation,' we need a leader who will dedicate himself to restoring the fundamentals of America. I urge every American, especially Christians, to elect Ted Cruz as the next President of the United States," Jackson said in a statement to Conservative HQ.
Jackson strongly believes that Cruz would work well with Christian ministries to help relieve America's inner cities of poverty and crime.
"Senator Cruz knows that 'central planning' by Washington elites will never match the ingenuity and effectiveness of free market capitalism working hand-in-hand with people of faith to restore cultural values and bring prosperity to the most needy people in our country," he further said.
Jackson stressed that America needs a president who is willing to end the "cycle of poverty, violence and despair in the inner city by marshalling the goodwill and resources of the private sector-churches, businesses, nonprofits and private schools."
He even went as far as comparing Cruz's faith in God to the ones expressed by former American leaders such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Ronald Reagan.
"Faith in Jesus Christ has been central to his life, long before he ever ran for office. I have no doubt that he will defend our religious liberty, our Second Amendment rights and our right to be free from unlawful government intrusion and control. I urge fellow evangelicals in Iowa to go to the caucuses and vote for Cruz," said Jackson.
Prior to Jackson's endorsement, Cruz already won over Focus on the Family's Dr. James Dobson, who raved about the senator's political know-how and articulateness. Cruz also received the nod of the National Organization for Marriage which cited him for being a "proven champion" of marriage.
I’ll live.
Seen some very tough times in 47 years.
This is a piece of cake compared to those.
never said trump was a bad man. But NETHER is Cruz.
Did you vote for Romney?
So Teddy is running for Pope?
************************************
No he’s not...little smarmy person. Are you running to be Satan ... or just a DORK!
Mindless snark makes you ass look big and your mind look small.
I’ve come to the same conclusion. I don’t vote for Democrats, especially not the ones who claim to be Conservative Republicans.
I agree about a godly president, but I would vote for any GOP who gets the nomination. Would you rather have the Beast, that is the HildaBeast with her felon husband back in the White House? You all better wake up just who the GOP candidate will be running against. Shrillary, Hitlery, whatever you want to call her, she is another collectivist radical, period.
Neither have I. Trump has brought something to the political arena that hasn't been seen since who-knows-when. When asked a stupid "gotcha" question by the lame MSM, he doesn't cower or seek forgiveness, he comes right back at them with, why did you ask me such a stupid question? That is refreshing and takes some guts. Cruz, on the other hand, has stood in the United States Senate and called the Speaker a liar, right to his face. Now, that takes some guts!!
it’s incredible. And he deserves far more praise for putting his neck out like that than he gets.
it’s almost political suicide and Is a win big/lose big scenario only.
IF you don't get your Santorum or Cruz you will take your petty, single issue religious ballot and stay home.
Virtually all Trump voters would vote Cruz, but not the other way around. Some folks care about the country while others only care about having things their own way. Incidentally, I noticed Cruz's pic in the post: is he parting the waters, blessing the crowd or temporarily refusing his crown? He actually looks like he is pinching a turtles head.
Cruz is running a political campaign using Christianity - That in and of its self lacks doctrine.
His supporters act as though a criticism of him (and his mixing religion and politics) is an attack on Christianity - it is not.
Those of us who really understand the purity of salvation see through Cruz's charade. I will vote for him. But I do see what he is doing.
Cruz is running his campaign based on the Constitution. That's why I favor Cruz over Trump.
When Cruz speaks with evangelicals, he speaks Christian to Christian. I don't see a problem with that.
Who said anything about Santorum?
"Virtually all Trump voters would vote Cruz, but not the other way around."
Does the reason for that escape you? Seriously?
Cruz is a solid Constitutional conservative. This is a conservative forum, so despite what I've been reading lately from Trump supporters, Freepers should be pleased to vote for Cruz.
Trump, on the other hand, is a lifelong progressive who has been conservative for about six months, has nothing to show for it but a lot of talk, and never speaks about the Constitution, liberty or small government. In fact, he seems to know next to nothing about them.
And you really think the two candidates are interchangeable?
" Some folks care about the country while others only care about having things their own way."
Because I care about the country, I refuse to inflict a progressive on it. No Trump for me.
" Incidentally, I noticed Cruz's pic in the post: is he parting the waters, blessing the crowd or temporarily refusing his crown? He actually looks like he is pinching a turtles head."
Yeah, uh-huh. Another "Southern Baptist" who thinks Cruz is a religious nut, and whose dislike of the man is tangible...and who has been a member for TEN YEARS but only started posting two days ago.
You trolls are embarrassingly clumsy.
Really? The owner of this site is anti-Christianity?
Soon to see a thread about the dangers of Christian endorsements for Cruz.
I’ve been told that Cruz’s Christian outreach will alienate voters. Never thought I would see such criticism here!!
Cruz, on the other hand, has stood in the United States Senate and called the Speaker a liar, right to his face. Now, that takes some guts!!Actually he was standing in an empty chamber using phony debate gestures and theatrics with his hang dog face to fool you...it worked.
Was that before he (Cruz) lied about his intent on the Gang of 8 amendment he proposed or after? Making proposals under false pretenses isn't just a simple lie, in many cases it's out right fraud.
Senator Cruz official website:
In 2013, Sen. Cruz proposed amendments to the "Gang of 8" bill that would strengthen border security, expand green card opportunities, increase high-skilled "H1B" visas, prevent illegal aliens from receiving welfare benefits, and enforce the rule of law.
Was he lying then or is he lying now?
So much generalizing and rancor. Sheesh.
Yes, a Christian President would be a good thing. Genuine Christianity, not the faux form practiced by feel-good liberals. If nothing else, maybe we’d get someone who actually believes the 8th, 9th, and 10th Commandments.
Having said that, faith in Jesus is not the only requirement for the job. I believe in Christ, but I also know that I’d be a terrible President. We also see in Scripture multiple times that God has used imperfect men or even complete unbelievers in order to accomplish his will.
First of all, rather quickly:
Santorum was mentioned because he is another one-note, failed religious candidate.
No "reason"escapes me, though your abysmal poverty of mind may think so.
And to sum, I don't need textual readings of the Constitution or prophesying from the podium (save the latter for the pulpit) - gimme taxation/immigration/sealed borders/bringing back jobs back, which incidentally 6 months ago Cruz was selling us down the drain (500% incr. H-1B, trashed the Constitution on the Corker Bill).
And finally, soliciting votes using gender, race or religion is all the same - it hides the real issues and generally gets the same type of narrow-minded fan club.
His Frankenstein's monster pose. All he needs is the bolt through his neck
