Actor Wayne Rogers died on Thursday from complications from pneumonia, his rep exclusively tells ET. He was 82 years old.

Rogers, who hailed from Alabama, is best known for playing the role of Captain "Trapper" John McIntyre in the classic television series M*A*S*H from 1972-1975. He also had recurring roles in City of Angels, House Calls, and Murder, She Wrote.

“I enjoyed him on the Saturday finance show, he and Jonathan would get into every once in awhile. I never really watched MASH.”

Actually, while Wayne and Jonathan would tussle periodically over financial issues, they agreed on most, and really liked each other. I suspect that Jonathan is devastated by Wayne’s passing. He looked up to and admired Wayne. Will be watching Eric Bolling’s Saturday morning business program, “Cashin In” tomorrow, to see what they all say about Wayne. It will be full of praise for him, I’m sure.

Eric Bolling really liked Wayne also, and always was very deferential to him. Eric Bolling, like Wayne and Donald Trump, was a businessman for most of his career, playing in the oil market, and, like both Rogers and Trump, is a very rich man in his own right. I love to watch Bolling’s Saturday morning business show that has thousands of twitter followers, and is an extremely popular show.

Actually, this was a tidbit about Wayne Rogers I didn’t know:

“Prior to becoming an actor, Rogers served in the United States Navy. He also had a history degree from Princeton University.”

A varied and fascinating man and career.

I think the internet would break today if someone finds a picture of Lemmy with Trapper John M.D.

Oy. Rest in peace, Mr. Rogers.

Somehow, that doesn't sound quite right.

There may be a country singer named Luke Perry, but I’m pretty sure the reference is to the actor who portrayed Dylan on Beverly Hills 90210.

Best wishes for a Happy New Year,

I’ll have to watch Cashin’ In Tomorrow too. I watch it most Saturdays. I always enjoy most of those on the show, except that one liberal guy. :)

I agree, I think Jonathan and Wayne enjoyed their back & forth . . . it certainly wasn’t mean spirited. All in good fun by the both of them.

I read on Wikipedia that he was Louis Rukeyser’s roommate in college. If so, I bet the puns were really something!

Nothing this morning. Must have been pre-recorded. I’ll have to tune in next week. You think they could have added something.

Hoss was also a liberal.

Funny thing though, in 1964 Hoss made a folk song album with John Mitchum (Robert Mitchum’s brother), and John Mitchum campaigned for Goldwater.

I saw John Mitchum at a campaign stop that year.

John Mitchum lived on the edge of my little NorCal
hometown for a time up the hill from a friend of mine.
As to Dan Blocker, he visited my area a few times with
James Drury who had an interest in a local Appaloosa
horse ranch but I never knew about his politics one
way or another.

It’s been years since I last read the book but as I recall: Trapper John was from, or at least attended some Ivy-league college in the NE. One night, whilst on a train with his date, after a football game they were caught.. ...um in a compromising position, in the toilet by the train’s conductor. As soon as his date realized someone had walked in she screamed “He trapped me!” and that was how Trapper John became forever infamous. Well, in Richard Hooker’s book, anyway.

Funny thing also in the book, Hawkeye and Trapper had played a single game on opposing teams back in college and in that game, during a blinding snowstorm Hawkeye intercepted a pass by Trapper John and won the game for his school.

RIP Mr. Rogers. We’ll miss you.
