'MASH' Star Wayne Rogers Dies at 82 ("Trapper" John McIntyre)

Actor Wayne Rogers died on Thursday from complications from pneumonia, his rep exclusively tells ET. He was 82 years old.
Rogers, who hailed from Alabama, is best known for playing the role of Captain "Trapper" John McIntyre in the classic television series M*A*S*H from 1972-1975. He also had recurring roles in City of Angels, House Calls, and Murder, She Wrote.

He took over the role from Elliott Gould in the movie, and then was succeeded by Adam Cartwright for “Trapper John, M.D.”

I thought I saw him recently on a Saturday morning show. He seemed like a smart, nice guy. Not too many Hollywood folks you can say that about.

Way before MASH, he had a regular role on the b&w western series “Stagecoach West,” co-starring with Robert Bray, who later became Ranger Corey on “Lassie.” Not a bad little western.
