It was the Detroit News headline "Trump goes after Ford Motor Co." not how long Hillary went overtime in the restroom that got our attention. Donald Trump made a whistle stop outside Grand Rapids, Michigan to take aim at Ford’s plans to expand production in Mexico. Trump promised if elected he would threaten manufacturers with big tariffs on imports to discourage building manufacturing plants south of the border.

Trump to Ford, "If you build that plant in Mexico, I’m going to charge you 35 percent on every car, truck part that you send into our country," he said. "Every single one." Trump went further saying he would engage in tough negotiations with car companies to build new plants in the US and Michigan. Political analysts say Trump’s proposal would at the very minimum require congressional approval and possibly violate NAFTA.

I was alive during WW 2, and I can remember the rationing and shortages that were necessary in order to meet the demands of war production. People constantly were griping about the situation, even though I guess most folks basically understood the rationale for their hardships. In any case, if that’s the kind of economy you really want, I’ve gotta marvel at your naivete.

Yeah, it's not that bad now compared to then. lol My older relatives always told me how poor they were in the 40s and 50s.

What difference does it make whether the corporate tax rate is 10% or 20% they are off shoring to take advantage of virtual slave labor.

I think you're afraid to tell me what you're talking about because it's not conservative.

the 1950’s and 1960’s were the most prosperous decades in US history and very little manufacturing was done over seas, almost none.

Labor cost is a small part of a price of a product. A 25% corporate tax blows labor costs out of the water.

We agree on one thing at least and that is labor is the a small part of manufacturing cost/price.

The taxes are passed on to the consumer. All the manufactures pay the same rate.

Still more than most of our trading partners.

What do you mean "our" trading partners?

We've witnessed Middle America go belly up due to these folks and their corruption and greed. Are you suggesting these are Middle America's partners? Or are they close partners and associates with the well connected in D.C. and mega-corp$

These "partners" as you described them have done nothing but severe damage to Middle America.

Professional politicians should wear suits like NASCAR drivers, so we know who their corporate sponsors are.

What do ya think slinger?

The prosperity was in spite of the income tax which the top marginal rate was 90%!

Middle America is belly-up? How? And how did profits cause this?

These "partners" as you described them have done nothing but severe damage to Middle America.

They're just living their lives. Communists and watermelons (green outside, red inside) have done bad thing to us. I wouldn't say we're belly-up though.

You're quite the little dictator, determining what people can and can't wear. lol

We need a flat 10% rate.

We need to eliminate all income taxes. The corps use it to subsidize their work force and to placate the idled masses from off shoring.
