I was alive during WW 2, and I can remember the rationing and shortages that were necessary in order to meet the demands of war production. People constantly were griping about the situation, even though I guess most folks basically understood the rationale for their hardships. In any case, if that’s the kind of economy you really want, I’ve gotta marvel at your naivete.

Yeah, it's not that bad now compared to then. lol My older relatives always told me how poor they were in the 40s and 50s.

the 1950’s and 1960’s were the most prosperous decades in US history and very little manufacturing was done over seas, almost none.
