If you look beyond Donald Trumpâs comprehensive unpleasantness -- is there a disagreeable human trait he does not have? -- you might see this: He is a fundamentally sad figure. His compulsive boasting is evidence of insecurity.
His unassuageable neediness suggests an aching hunger for othersâ approval to ratify his self-admiration. His incessant announcements of his self-esteem indicate that he is not self-persuaded. Now, panting with a puppy's insatiable eagerness to be petted, Trump has reveled in the approval of Vladimir Putin, murderer and war criminal.
Putin slyly stirred America's politics by saying Trump is "very ... talented," adding that he welcomed Trump's promise of "closer, deeper relations," whatever that might mean, with Russia. Trump announced himself flattered to be "so nicely complimented" by a "highly respected" man: "When people call you brilliant, it's always good."
When MSNBC's Joe Scarborough said Putin "kills journalists, political opponents and invades countries," Trump replied that "at least he's a leader." Besides, Trump breezily asserted, "I think our country does plenty of killing also."
Two days later, Trump, who rarely feigns judiciousness, said: "It has not been proven that he's killed reporters."
Well. Perhaps the 56 journalists murdered were coincidental victims of amazingly random violence that the former KGB operative's police state is powerless to stop. It has, however, been "proven," perhaps even to Trump's exacting standards, that Putin has dismembered Ukraine. (Counts one and two at the 1946 Nuremberg trials concerned conspiracy to wage, and waging, aggressive war.)

Exactly. Here’s a video with a young woman who has never been involved with politics before that correctly identifies that elitists rule both parties.

The battle is we-the-people vs elitists,
Conservative vs Liberal, a history of terms and discussion.

With the possible exception of Louis Gohmert and a few others, the Texas Congressional delegation fits that to a "T". My representative, Kenny Marchant, has been particularly disappointing, and his voting ratings continue to decline. He's a six term backbencher, and is now part of the problem. He voted for the omnibus, and is obviously a big supporter of Ryan.
And what is Wills take on the Sanders rise?
That man and his like should be hoping for a sunny spot in the living room at the home. A nice comfortable place to drool into his Brandy Alexander and lime green Jello while recalling the day when his filter kept the minions at bay.
The elites days are over.
A new day...on both sides of the political spectrum mind you..has dawned.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
“I was shocked how clueless he was.”
No, no, no. . .you see. . .to them WE are the one’s who are clueless and need our betters to guide us and tell us who to support. We simply aren’t capable of making decisions on our own.
Same to ya!
I think this is why we are hearing the Trump and feeling the Bern, between the right and left wings of the country.
We’re tired, tired, tired, of the insincere. Be right, or even be wrong, but MEAN it for heaven’s sake???
There is no conservative party, and Trump isn’t a conservative.
I don't know how 90% of them have the temerity to speak after their history of duplicity and utter failure.
But the real questions that he raises, while playing to the hysteria of a certain element in the Republican Party, are not the ones he intended. But as posted in another thread, consider these questions:
A. Is George Will truly a Conservative? pB. Is the Republican Party truly a Conservative Party? (Yes McKinley, Coolidge & Reagan were Conservatives, but that is about 18+ years, out of a 161 year history.)
C. Is Trump, now awake and showing it, really less Conservative on the actual issues than Jeb Bush, Governor Kasich, Governor Christie, or others who are acceptable to George Will?
D. Or is George Will simply reflecting the hysterical approach of those Republicans who like to accommodate President Obama, when the chips are down, rather than stand up for their oaths of office? In other words, simply accommodating the Whipped cur breed, who are Conservative only in their own pretenses, but contemptible in their performance in the face of challenge.

That is Trump’s genius. He never claimed it, so complaints that he isn’t it are beside the point.
Some people, yes, want a conservative-in-a-package. But others just want to see crying issues addressed well. Cruz typifies the first, Trump the second.
You, and your ilk, Mr. Will, have been the problem with the conservative movement. Go back to sleep.
What an insult to douches!
One might even characterize the major defining issue that gave birth to the GOP, the anti slavery issue, as a kind of liberal issue. Not liberal in today’s illiberal caricaturish twisted government nanny sense, but in the older sense of bucking the established order towards a greater personal freedom.
Maybe it’s fitting that games of Twister keep on getting put up on FR. We’ve been utterly twisted. And it’s our own fault.
Conservative party is already dead. Trump is Conservative revenge against the GOP.
We don’t have a conservative party. We have two leftist parties, one of which operates openly. There is a substantial segment of the American voting public that feels like they’re being gamed every election cycle by Washington card sharps and slickster lawyers from their own party.
I have a graphic that I saved to my hard drive. I’m a Cruz guy first, but I appreciate the sentiment expressed in it.
It reads:
“Trump 2016:
No More Bullshit”
We saw what the Pseudo-conservative poseurs were capable of with the omnibus Federal funding bill. God only can save America if we do not resume control of our own political society. But then, why should He bother, if we are so irresponsible as to let jaded & philosophically corrupted journalists like this, redefine our principles?
Well, Mr. Will, I remember when many said the same about if Obozo won the election...which all came true and then some.
But what did you do when he was elected? Invited him and your best “conservative” buddies to party with the new Prez...
Lecture me NOT!
He did that?
Oh my. Who is he to tell anybody what to do when the end game seems to be just to get along to get along. Who cares what you actually BELIEVE.
Here is what burns me up about so-called conservatives like George Will:
“Our” conservative policy positions, like enforcing immigration law evenly and consistently, a pro-life stance, school vouchers (DC, Mr. Ryan!) national security (like admitting tons of unvetted refugees), among so many other things have to be tossed over the cliff for The Good of The Party. They promise to fight for those things....another day.
But the conservative policy positions that “they” want, such as the oil export policy, are important enough that they it wait for another day....and not one minute.
And they wonder why we don’t cheer....
