Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz slammed the Washington Post Tuesday for publishing a cartoon appearing to depict his children as monkeys.
Ann Telnaes, a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist, argued that because the Texas senator had used his children as âpolitical propsâ in a recent Christmas parody infomercial they were âfair game.â
A representative for the Post could not be reached for comment in time for publication by TheBlaze.
UPDATE, 8:40 p.m. ET: The Washington Post retracted the cartoon and replaced it with an editorâs note from Fred Hiatt. It reads:
Itâs generally been the policy of our editorial section to leave children out of it. I failed to look at this cartoon before it was published. I understand why Ann thought an exception to the policy was warranted in this case, but I do not agree.

The Washington Post and NY TIMES always attack the children of non lefties.
But if anyone ever mentions any of the children of lefties, they howl, “HOW DARE you mention the children?”
This remark is addressed specifically to all readers with an IQ under 70 :
If you don't see the issue, no explanation is possible.
Keep in mind that Alinsky’s book (dedicated to the devil) called for as dirty tactics as one can get away with. Alinsky and his followers (the Democrat party) are channeling the devil as their template. Not that Alinsky nostrums are anything new. This was said 150 years before in “Cachetism of a Revolutionist.” Also, Karl Marx, in England, used to refer to himself as “Old Nick” on occasion. “Old Nick” is the English phrase for the devil.
That cartoon was not only nasty but it was stupid and not funny.
The Santa Claus figure bore no resemblance to Ted and the children bore no resemblance to children. Just monkeys.
Really nasty and bad cartooning.
She should be fired.
We do wookie posts here and it is good but no reputable or semi-reputable publication does them.
You don’t see two sweet little girls being depicted as monkeys an issue??
Well, okay, then.
“She should be fired.”
She will be given another Pulitzer for this.
absolutely the lowest of the low wapo

I’m good with that. And because she used her fingers drawing that cartoon, I think they are fair game also, and should be cut off. Gee, maybe there’s something to this Sharia law thing after all?
She's a Swede. We should ship her back to the ProphetLand - Obama's Swedish Muzzie brethren will sort her out in a hurry, after a few dozen late-night "grooming" sessions...
She's kind of cute - it'll be a welcome change of goat for the Brotherhood...
I disagree. She's a cute Swedish blonde. We should give her a federal grant and send her back to Sweden to draw cartoons about Islam's prophet.
The matter will then sort itself out in Swedenistan. Of course, her husband might not like the outcome... :)
Just make sure you pretend to be part of a "sanctioned" "religion"...
Were you to post a photo of obammy and his two brats like this he’d have the secret service on your ass.
the only children NTY and WP like are the aborted.
Are you sure this is not her depiction of Mohamed? She should go into hiding immediately!
Used to be that spouses and children were off-limits. That died years ago.
This damn double standard has gotten beyond heinous.
Regardless of Democrat or Republican, the outrage should be bipartisan. These are small children for Christ's sake. The fact that there won't be any such outrage says a lot about how our politics have gotten worse over the last 20 years.
Unfortunately true.
