There is an unspoken rule in editorial cartooning that a politician's children are off-limits. People don't get to choose their family members so obviously it's unfair to ridicule kids for their parent's behavior while in office or on the campaign trail- besides, they're children. There are plenty of adults in the political world who act childish, so there is no need for an editorial cartoonist to target actual children.
I've kept to that rule, except when the children are adults themselves or choose to indulge in grown-up activities (as the Bush twins did during the George W Bush presidency). But when a politician uses his children as political props, as Ted Cruz recently did in his Christmas parody video in which his eldest daughter read (with her father's dramatic flourish) a passage of an edited Christmas classic, then I figure they are fair game.
Ann Telnaes is an....

I bet the jacket Cruz is wearing fits Trump perfectly. (That photo has been rehashed to death).
Trump needs to visit hair club for men. he can afford it.
Well, THAT’s never happened before.
I use the Washington Post as toilet paper. Paybacks a bitch!
That story makes no sense. He wouldn’t show up to a meeting like that with no jacket.
Barack Obama's elder daughter wears top with peace symbol used as Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament logo on Rome visit
Now there is a ++ idea....
Said one Hillary Baby to the talking head,
“Do you see what I see?”
Said one Hillary G’Baby to the talking head,
“Do you see what I see?”
Said a second Grand Baby to the talking head,
“Do you see what I see?”
Chelsea! Chelsea!
A star, a star, born to get AR voters ...
Sorry, that made a spew right out of my mouth. Hope it didn’t spoil your Christmas outfit.
Still chuckling()—
DEAR TED CRUZ, I know you won’t say it so I Will:
Washington Post now needs to do the SAME GRAPHIC with Obama’s daughters as the monkeys.
Here is a PERFECT example of using his daughters for campaign ads

By the way, how many others running for office from both parties have used their family members in campaign ads? This isn't something new. But I guess the author of this hit piece was told to write something derogatory about Cruz, and this is all she could come up with.
Who cares...seriously. Remember Reagan's brown suit?
Men and "fashion" don't go together, IMO.
Actually, I think how a parent parents, expresses their family values, and getting a glimpse of a politicians family life is vital to me in deciding who to support as a candidate.
As an example, seeing Obama with his children is nice but then when I hear his position regarding abortion and late term abortion......any family moments he might share rings hollow.
Families are usually always involved in campaigns. I despise what this idiot did against Cruz.
I want to see the Obama daughters as monkeys or Cruz should get an apology.
And even worse- She doesn’t even make cookies. Never knew a grandmother that didn’t bake cookies. Will she remember to actually feed them..oh, never mind she will never actually take responsibility to care for them. The nanny will do that; the same one employed to care for her?
T. Cruz did nothing wrong. I recall no objections when Chelsea was involved in campaigning.
