When establishment candidates are losing support with the voters, they often resort to their last subterfuge in the bag of tricks. They try to taint their conservative opponent as something less than a consistent conservative in the hopes of deflating the momentum of said opponent. I’ve seen this dynamic play out in almost every competitive primary. And this is exactly what we are seeing with the entire GOP establishment media that is suddenly concerned that Ted Cruz is not really a conservative.
To those of us who worked on the immigration issue in 2013, there was no secret as to who was pushing amnesty and who was fighting for American sovereignty. But who better than Jeff Sessions to set the record straight? Here it is straight from the mouth of the general that Cruz was standing with him “every step of the way”:
Jeff Sessions: Ted Cruz was on my side to defeat the Gang of Eight amnesty bill (Video)
“I believe without the vigorous opposition of Ted Cruz, this bill likely would have passed. So we need to thank him for that.”
Notice that Sen. Sessions speaks of the $1.5 billion spent on ads promoting the Gang of 8. Guess who starred in those ads for Mark Zuckerberg? Yup, the junior senator from Florida.
Sessions goes on to recount that day in May 2013, when the Senate Judiciary Committee met to mark up the bill and how Cruz was one of the first people he saw rattle Schumer’s cage.
You won’t see this video played on Fox News. They will continue to entertain themselves within their insular echo chamber. Unfortunately for them, the voters aren’t listening.
In the context of the article, it is Cruz himself guilty of leaving information out, as it is clear that Cruz was using it to support his bonafides as a moderate on immigration.
To accuse Cruz, or Sessions, of supporting legalization
In Cruz's case, it's easy to do when he tells you his position. In Sessions' case, in his defense, the entire GOP had already conceded legalization, as explained in one of the links I just gave you.
You falsely accused me of basing my entire argument on an absence of opposition from Cruz et al. In other words, that I don't have quotes from Ted Cruz where he declares he supports legalization. I've argued, for a long time, upon a foundation based on Cruz's profession of support for legalization. The only case where an "absence" of stated opposition is in the case of Sessions, but then, I soften it by pointing out the mood of conservatism at the time, which also was not speaking out in favor of deportation.
You're aware of this, but instead of dealing honestly, lie to everybody reading so you can demean my position.
Beyond any reasonable doubt: Cruz supported legal status for illegal aliens. Not "Oh, Cruz didn't mention deportation!" but "Cruz directly mentions legalization and calls it part of common sense immigration reform."
It's not really a debate. It's more of one side choosing to ignore the evidence (and sometimes lying straight to my face so they can deceive their readers), while the other side pleas to have the evidence acknowledged.
LOL. So I'm the "desperate" one because I pointed out Trump's legalization amnesty position of July 24th 2015, after you pointed out that Cruz was supposidely for a legalization amnesty back in the Spring 2013?
Look in the mirror.
No. I can assure you that the engineers getting laid off in my industry have nothing to do with China.
So if a foreign student displays extra-ordinary achievement, it is asinine to kick her/him out and approve another legal immigrant who has neither the skills or money to bring with them, based on sponsorship by a close relative.
Read the stats.
Your argument is pretty weak to begin with (it doesn't actually have Trump saying "I won't deport"), but please do not misstate my own. I never stated that Cruz had this position only in Spring of 2013. Cruz always opposed the pathway to citizenship, but my position is that he's supported legalization after border enforcement from 2013 to March 2015, and after March refused to answer questions about deportation, and finally in December began to take a hard line position while lying that he ever supported legalization to begin with.
Who knows whether you are actually an expert in the employment of people in whatever industry you claim to be a part of, but there is no question that "free trade" strips the US of its jobs at an alarming rate. The recent TPP bill-- which Cruz still supports in principle, though he opposes parts of it-- would result in a mass exodus of American jobs to places like Vietnam, where the average manufacturing worker gets paid about 140 dollars a month. There have already been articles about US companies planning to move into Vietnam and other TPP countries.
"Free Trade" has done nothing but hurt America.
Who knows whether you are actually an expert in the employment of people in whatever industry you claim to be a part of.
LOL. Both you and your friend entropy12 were flashing your supposed credentials earlier in the thread, but when I do it, you question it.
As if folks are supposed to believe you, when you don't believe others.
Trump was asked straight out what to do with the good ones, and all he could do was say that he was going to do something for them. And he made NO mention of deporting them.
"one of the principle reasons I cannot stand Trump."
should be
"one of the principal reasons I cannot stand Trump."
I've already documented for you weeks ago that Cruz fought against the legalization amnesty in the House in January 2014. And he said then that a legalization amnesty was never justified.
It's more like the "argument from silence" derives from the cult-like Cruz followers on this website, who "silence" the evidence by not really addressing it.
Furthermore, I believe our testimony as believers
I stopped being impressed by the "testimony" of evangelicals years ago, around the time Mitt Romney was receiving cover from major pastors who didn't want to bring up the M-word (Mormonism).
What you documented was something nobody was disputing: Cruz's opposition to the pathway to citizenship. No one refuted Cruz's support for legal status.
Trump is exceptional smart businessman. He will be the best president of 21st century, there is no doubt. The crowd in Grand Rapids is amazing!
I have been a keen political junkie since 1972. Never seen such enthusiastic and big crowds, and so many rallies everywhere, for any candidate, ever!
What you documented was something nobody was disputing: Cruz's opposition to the pathway to citizenship. No one refuted Cruz's support for legal status.
No. The House in Jan. 2014 was going to try a Legalization Amnesty Bill, not a Citizenship Amnesty Bill.
I've quoted Cruz in Jan. 2014, saying no legalization amnesty, to the House.
A bill which Cruz opposed because of a failure to secure the borders. Not because he opposed legalization, provided border security came first, as his campaign spokesman explains here..
Stop arguing until we are all blue in the face.
In the end, please remember, our differences are very small compared to our differences with Hillary.
Just listen to Cruz himself. It is all on video.

No. Did you read the article in your own link.
(Excerpt)
As I said...The House in Jan. 2014 was going to try a Legalization Amnesty Bill, not a Citizenship Amnesty Bill. I've quoted Cruz in Jan. 2014, saying no legalization amnesty, to the House.
Yes, in fact, I read all of it, so did you. But you're too dishonest to quote it all.
