Trump Backed Amnesty For Illegal Aliens Only Last June
Investors Business Daily ^ | 12/17/2015 | Editorial

Posted on 12/18/2015 4:01:41 AM PST by expat_panama

...he was for amnesty before he was against it...

[snip]

...from the No. 1 defender of deportation. At the end of June, speaking to the press in Chicago and after saying he "heard you probably have 30 million" illegal aliens in America, Trump contended:

"You have to give them a path, and you have to make it possible for them to succeed. You have to do that. But the bad ones, and there are bad ones, you have to get out, and you have to get them out fast."

[snip]

...Trump, interviewed by Newsmax's Ron Kessler, blasted Mitt Romney's "crazy policy of self-deportation." It was "maniacal," he said, contending it cost the Republican "all of the Latino vote" and adding "he lost everybody who is inspired to come into this country."

Trump told Kessler that the Republicans must develop comprehensive immigration reform "to take care of this incredible problem that we have with respect to immigration, with respect to people wanting to be wonderful, productive citizens of this country."

[snip]

..."The Democrats didn't have a policy for dealing with illegal immigrants, but what they did have going for them is they weren't mean-spirited about it. ... What they were is they were kind."

[snip]

Trump sneered, "Jeb (Bush) is a very nice person" and "Jeb said when they come across the southern border, they come as an act of love." But Trump's reference to immigrants, legal and illegal, as "people wanting to be wonderful, productive citizens of this country" sounds awfully similar.

"I have a very hard-line position,"... ..."People that have come into our country illegally, they have to go."

"They have to go" is quite a flipflop from the "you have to give them a path" position that Trump took only five and a half months ago.

which one were you? were you the “watch the apprentice”, the “he supports veterans”, the “he’s a successful businessman” or the “JimRob supports him and thats good enough for me”? ‘Cause none of those answer the question, my Trump Ass-Kissing Little Friend (TAKLF).

And you’re absolutely right, I do despise Trump. He has done nothing in his whole miserable life that shows I, or any conservative, should trust him to govern as a conservative. In fact, he’s done and said plenty that he will govern as the liberal that he is. And as I despise liberals for the destruction they are wreaking on my country, I despise Trump for the destruction he WILL wreak.

... of course they leave out the bit from the video reference where Tump says the path is you have to get out of the country and get in line(for citizenship). That’s his path.

Let’s face it, everyone’s got a past and the record’s there for all to see. Sure, there’s a lot to be said for Trump —and at the same time let’s keep our eyes wide open and know what the facts are. If we don’t see deal w/ this now it’ll only be worse when the left throws it in our faces.

Sounds reasonable enough.

I am disturbed by some of Trump’s past positions as I’m thrilled about some of his current ones, and clearly many of his positions have changed dramatically. So, the issue there seems to be: Was he lying then or lying now?

I choose to believe that his positions changed because he became educated. Immigration would be a great example: When Trump looked at running he looked at the biggest issues, met with Jeff Sessions, adopted Sen. Session’s positions and launched his candidacy on them. So, Trump decided immigration was the biggest problem our Republic has, found the guy with the best plan, hired him and planted his flag as manager and negotiator to enact the plan.

I would expect Trump to do the same thing on any issue, like the manager and negotiator he is: Face the problem, choose the best people with the best solutions, empower them, manage them, promote and negotiate for action.

The thing about being a thinking being is that once one first forms an opinion, one can then do more thinking and refine that opinion as more facts are introduced into the mix.

I have "evolved" my conservative thought processes a lot since I first found to FR (the day known as 911).

For years, i donated only sporadically until I came to the conclusion that FR has a valid place in the conservative battles going on. I also came to the conclusion that the Constitution is good w/o us trying to find "Noble Cause" clauses in it to suit ourselves like so many "conservative Constitutionalists" do from time to time because they don't like everything that the Constitution, in its pure form, allows.

At any rate - we all change and we can only hope it's for the better.

Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
We need to ensure we don't get another Obama-like America Hater as the next President.
The best way to ensure that is to actively support a candidate as the next President.
I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader

PS - If you are one of those who cannot afford even a small donation to FR or a candidate, God Bless and happy FReeping!.....

GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!

Donate to FR

Donate to Cruz

Donate to FR

Conservatives can keep committing mass political suicide for all I care.

This country will either be nuked by Russia or China (or both), or become a Marxist hell hole within 10 years because everybody on our side is divided on who their “right candidate” should be. And if they don’t get selected, then they sit it out during the GE.

Keep voting for Democrats!

Trump like ALOT of us did NOT know terrorists were coming in with the refugees!!! None of us realized just how BAD our government is at screening people coming into this country!!! The government has become so HUGE that they do NOTHING right!!! I think MANY are astounded at the absolute incompetence!!!! I think Trumps dealings with the government have brought him to the realization that WE have a REAL problem with incompetence, I am with Trump solely because he is NOT bought and paid for!!! Government has become a lobbyist cesspool WE don’t count anymore!!! I want the government run like any other business is run, their very existence is due to our hard work and money !!!!

I think Trump has no principles and just says what people want to hear. He will fix anything which is not conservative at all. The government is not the answer to all problems and I do not here him saying that.

There are a lot of things I don't hear Trump saying. I don't hear him talking about the Constitution. I don't hear him talking about freedom, liberty, or limited government. I don't really hear him talking about conservative principles that so many of us hold dear.

He has been a great candidate in a lot of ways--for instance, whether his position on immigration is sincere or not, he has forced the issue to the forefront in the campaign, and dragged most of the other candidates to the right. But I just don't trust his principles in the same way I trust Cruz.

All of these politicians are for amnesty. Trump’s drawing the hardest line on it now so I’ll back him.

Oh don’t worry about the Trump haters. They’re still mad Walker dropped out. If it wasn’t for Trump, Cruz would be shut out by the other candidates. And the GOPe would be telling us we have to change, we’re the party of old white guys. We have to be more tolerant....of gays, illegals, terrorists, BLM and birth control/abortion. Compassionate conservatives they would say. However the chips may fall, Thank you Donald Trump!!!

Pressed by a ridiculous Mika Brezinski this morning to “say something nice to Muslim-Americans,” the Donald declined and pressed the issue of muslim violence in this country and what he was going to do about it. For that alone, he will get my vote.

That is still cropping up. It was in an interview with Bill O’Reilly, as usual, O’Reilly stops people in mid-sentence and does not allow them to complete a thought.

Oh 100 percent agreement with you FRiend.

If it were not for Trump, we would hear nothing but verbose and inane announcements from the GOPe and the lamestream media about the “Jeb Bush Juggernaut” and how he already has the nomination locked up, and all the other candidates should be dropping out and getting in line with Jeb in order to have a ‘unified party’.

Yeah, a unified party of RINOs which would throw ANOTHER election to the ‘RATS.

“What Justin Bieber is to teenage girls, Donald Trump is to low information voters.”

If that gives you comfort, you can believe that, but I cannot assure you, all the rage out there that is accruing to Trump’s benefit is NOT from your freaking “low information” voters. They are the ones who still give Obama a pass.
