Republican presidential candidate former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum argued that "Islam is different" and the idea that its political structure is "protected under the First Amendment is wrong," a point former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee agreed with.
Santorum said, "The fact of the matter is, Islam is different. I know this is going to come as a shock to a lot of people, and I mean that sincerely. Islam is not just a religion. it is also a political governing structure. The fact of the matter is, Islam is a religion, but it is also Sharia law. It is also a civil government. It is also a form of government. And so the idea that that is protected under the First Amendment is wrong. And in fact, that political structure is what is the big problem. the imposition of sharia law and adherence to fundamental Islam as it was practiced in the 7th century, and there has to be a line drawn."

Rick wouldn’t recognize a slippery slope if be was wearing skis.
Here are their opinions:
Sharia in America: "51% of U.S. Muslims (1.5M) ... polled believe ... that they should have the choice of American or Sharia courts" (1)
Reject U.S. Law: 61%. Only "39% of (U.S. Muslims, ~1.2M) said that Muslims in the U.S. should be subject to American courts." (1) That means the other 61% (~1.8M) of U.S. Muslims believe they should not be subject to American courts.
Sharia Superiority: 33% of U.S. Muslims (~1M) believe that "If Sharia conflicts with the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights", then Sharia "should be considered supreme." (1)
Violence against First Amendment Rights: 29% (~900,000) U.S. Muslims agree that "violence against those who insult the prophet mohammed, the quran, or the Islamic faith is sometimes acceptable." (1)
Sharia by Jihad: 11% of U.S. Muslims (~330,000) believe that Sharia is "The Muslims god allah's Law that Muslims must follow and impose world-wide via Jihad" (1)

Keep in mind that the bias of respondents should be to shade their answers to be more acceptable to other Americans, lest they become the targets of legal investigation for their subversive opinions. Therefore, the results above should be considered the bare minimum, and the real opinion of American muslims is likely worse than shown.
The term they need to use is conflict of interest.
Thank you Rick. You are correct and we should have more discussion of this fact than we do.
OK, you can leave now. Job well done.
Santorum is a good man. Thank you, Rick, for saying what few people want to know.
It is different because it demands OTHERS must obey
If you want to follow any religion you want, that’s fine- but the muzzies insist everyone ELSE must follow their religion.
Furthermore it demands sharia law which defies us law.
For both these reasons it is unconstitutional to let muzzies run things
Islam is a political system.
What if pedophilia or NAZIism were religions?
When a religion is mutually exclusive with the U.S. Constitution then it is a political system, and should not be afforded the protections of the 1st Amendment.
Go Santorum!
If you want to follow any religion you want, thatâs fine-
No, that’s not fine if it’s practice goes against the constitution and/or laws of the land. I can’t practice a religion that requires I own women and slaves. Or that I have sex and marry little girls. The constitution and laws are against it.
The establishment mantra of "only a tiny few extremists" is a dangerous lie that gets people killed and allows deeply anti-Western forces into our homeland.
Islam is not a religion. Its a political ideology with religious overtones. It does not qualify for religious protection under the US Constitution because it calls for Sharia law which is totally contradictory to the Constitution itself.
Santorum and Huckabee are right. Islam is more than a religion and if Islam is so great then they shouldn’t mind anyone and everyone sitting in on their religious services. Both are common sense that need to be part of the political discussion.
No, Huckabee and Santorum may leave as Presidential nominees, but as someone else pointed out, both Huckabee and Santorum are the kind of people we need to at least see in the next Republican President’s cabinet. So instead of “leaving” I want to say, “see you soon”.
This reminds me of a TV show I saw years ago. A panel was discussing Islam. And they talked of how Islam is a social system, a legal system, a governing structure, and a financial system. It is a way of life for devout Muslims.
Think about it. Islam is social system with ideology such as the treatment of women. Its a legal system with sharia law. Its a financial system in banking and lending as Islam bans paying interest or charging interest. In majority Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia the Koran is part of their civil law.
So Islam is far more than just a religion, even if we want to discuss it as a religious faith.
The Narcissitic MSM stand up and yelp...”SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE”, then support the caliphate which is church and state.
Words matter. The language used by political power brokers and media darlings helps to shape the national dialogue for better (rarely) or for worse (often). These privileged few are the gatekeepers for information dissemination in this country, and they almost never fail to disappoint—especially with regard to Islam and jihad.
The nature of Islam is not a secret. The motives of jihadists and of Islamic supremacists are uniform. It always baffles me to see Islam and jihad treated on these news shows and in different publications and by politicians as something so enigmatic that it could never be explained.
To these media clowns and political tools I say: Open a Koran. Read the Hadiths. Study Bat Ye’or and Robert Spencer. Understand the 1,400-year history of jihad. Their playbook is neither hidden nor sophisticated.
The notion that the San Bernardino Muslima or the 9/11 hijackers or the Fort Hood jihadi were radical come only when viewed through the prism of Western logic that has been shaped by Judeo-Christian values. As far as Islam is concerned, there was nothing radical about any of their actions. It is a dangerous practice to subtly lull gullible Western minds into believing that Islam is somehow fundamentally good-natured or peaceful. It is not. To say so is simply to acknowledge the truth, and the truth is neither hateful nor bigoted—it is the truth.
There are indeed radical Muslims. Certainly. Secular Muslims are radical. Muslims who oppose jihad terror are radical. Muslims who believe there should be a reformation of the Koranic mandate to slaughter non-Muslims and for Islam to dominate the planet are radical. Jihadists, however, are devout. Jihadists are righteous. Jihadists are purists.
This distinction must be made if we are to understand our enemy. And we must understand them. This is crucial. There is no other path to victory. They certainly understand us. They understand our tolerance and our openness. Our bleeding hearts and our eternal hopefulness. And they play us like fiddles.
This is not a new war. The jihad against the West has been raging for well over a millennium, and it will continue to rage from behind all its different masks until the ideology behind it is summarily destroyed.
Do your duty. Teach. Words matter.

Thanks for posting those.
Only an idiot would say militant Muslims should have 1st A. rights so they can take away ours.
Santorum IS a good man, it’s true, I agree. Here’s more:
