Is Donald Trump going off the liberal deep end?
The American Thinker ^ | December 15, 2015 | Ed Straker

Posted on 12/16/2015 12:50:35 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

There has been a big question mark about the sincerity of Donald Trump's views, given that he has spent 99% of his adult life supporting liberal positions, including amnesty for illegal aliens, and saying at one point that Hillary Clinton was a really good secretary of state.

But he was said to be changed when he ran for president earlier this year. He spoke rousingly against illegal aliens and against Muslim immigration.

But all of a sudden he has taken a leftward tack, perhaps figuring, erroneously, that this is the best way to outflank Ted Cruz. Trump has actually criticized Ted Cruz for failing to support ethanol mandates....If Donald Trump can't cut ethanol, how can he cut any form of corporate welfare?...He throws out the old line of getting rid of "waste, fraud, and abuse," but every candidate says that. In fact, Trump never talks about cutting the budget. Our debt is slowly destroying the country, and he has no plan to reduce deficits.

Even more alarmingly, Trump has criticized Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia...

...Trump's attitude seems to be that he likes affirmative action, regardless of the results...Can we really afford to have a president appointing more supreme court justices who support such discrimination?

Racial discrimination against whites and Asians, also known as affirmative action, is just fine with Donald Trump. On Meet the Press..."I lived with it for a long time. And I've had great relationships with lots of people. So I'm fine with it."

Lastly, Trump blasted Ted Cruz for acting like a "maniac" in his fight against the establishment GOP in the U.S. Senate...As Mark Levin noted,he seems to be labeling all of us who supported Cruz's efforts to stop Obamacare and Obama's illegal amnesty and Obama's runaway spending as maniacs as well. Even Rush Limbaugh has said that Trump's tack to the left raises "red flags."......

Typically, VP’s don’t do squat. I wouldn’t expect a typical Presidency from Trump. That does cause me to wonder about Trump’s advisors. I haven’t heard or read much about them. Who are Trump’s inner circle?

My wife, however, thinks he's a scam artist with an inflated ego and that he would push through a lot of things the Democrats want then brag about how much he has accomplished.

Your wife is wise.

As president, he will appoint people who can assure that construction jobs are done correctly. As far as not knowing "nuclear triad"? If I had to answer that, I'd be guessing. It's not a common term. Why don't we just give them all a current events test and determine how many would pass a "gotcha questions" test?

CW, I just don't get it why you don't see the need for a strong leader who can win and make excellent appointments. Is Trump perfect? No. Who is? But, mygosh, look how much he's shaken things up in this election already.

PS: I still want a time machine. Think how different the world would be today if we'd gotten Quayle/Forbes instead of GWB's cronies buying that nomination before anyone was ready to stop them.

Quayle’s political judgment was not the best. He took Nixon’s advice and moved to Arizona where he completely faded away. He needed to run for Governor of Indiana in 1996 to prove his leadership mettle. Marilyn Quayle should’ve run for Senator against Evan Bayh in 1998.

As for Forbes, he should’ve run for Governor of New Jersey in 2001 and spared the state the McGreevey-Corzine horror.

Jeb Bush was pushing Trump’s buttons last night. Have no idea what others were watching but I saw a very childish Donald Trump becoming unhinged. It was embarrassing to watch and even more troubling to realize that supposedly intelligent people can not see through his tired drunk uncle act. This is the reason I pray for my country.

I've said my vote goes to a conservative and I expect that will be Ted Cruz.

Oh noes, now you've gone and done it.

Mark this day as the beginning of the end for my guy Ted Cruz.

You couldn't keep your witch hex off of Ted, "bubble bubble toil and trouble" and now you've put the wooden stake through his campaign.

Pure evil. When you announce that you have picked a candidate, he might as well drop out because the revenge of the bitter wife takes over.

In regards to illegal aliens and the subversion of our republic. Trump’s plan is the only one that might reverse the trend of using illegals as liberal votes. As far as I can tell, all the others aren’t good enough, and if this problem isn’t addressed ASAP, it might be too late.

I’m not arguing that a Cruz administration would get a lot of good done, because I believe that it would.

It’s just that in the current situation, I don’t think that it would be good enough to reverse the voter fraud trend using illegals. And unless that’s taken care of, a lot of the good that Cruz could do would be undone as soon as the establishment used its fraud machine to get back into power.

But I’m pretty sure we’re on the same page in regards to the dice roll, or at least very close.

You can dump the “hate” meme.

Bush wanted Cheney.

Trump “is the smartest guy he knows” so any VP will be a doormat.

My problem with Trump isn’t that he can’t appoint people to do what he wants, it’s what he wants that bothers me.

His history (which is long and runs to today) is liberal.

He TALKS and then he walks it back.

I cannot trust this man.

Ah, Forbes - imagine (but Freepers said he talked funny and his religion wasn’t good enough). His flat-tax looks pretty good, doesn’t it?

Naw, sugar. How ‘bout YOU dump the hate meme ?

We get it, when it comes down to Hillary vs. Trump, Trump can do without your vote. Your words.

If you are going to quote FR’s founder, why don’t you also include the positive things he has said about Cruz. I forgot ...... Trumpet logic.

El Jebbe is a loser barely registering a blip in the polls. He’s pissed because he has self-destructed and can’t spend his way into fooling millions of primary voters. Thank heavens for Trump in making that happen.

And yet you supported La Raza Rick for President, one of the biggest pro-illegals politicians. Your credibility is subzero.

Um, because everyone here knows that and where he stands. He supports Cruz, does not oppose Trump. Like many of us here.

CW,

I am sorry for the decline of quality in Freeper debates. All I see are ad hominem attacks, no logic or facts. The Trumpsters are not a very bright lot. Adjust your expectations accordingly. :-)

I’m a Cruz supporter who will vote for Trump.

I'm a Cruz supporter who will vote for Trump ( (1) if he unfortunately beats Cruz, and (2) will be holding my nose)
