Is Donald Trump going off the liberal deep end?
The American Thinker ^ | December 15, 2015 | Ed Straker

Posted on 12/16/2015 12:50:35 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

There has been a big question mark about the sincerity of Donald Trump's views, given that he has spent 99% of his adult life supporting liberal positions, including amnesty for illegal aliens, and saying at one point that Hillary Clinton was a really good secretary of state.

But he was said to be changed when he ran for president earlier this year. He spoke rousingly against illegal aliens and against Muslim immigration.

But all of a sudden he has taken a leftward tack, perhaps figuring, erroneously, that this is the best way to outflank Ted Cruz. Trump has actually criticized Ted Cruz for failing to support ethanol mandates....If Donald Trump can't cut ethanol, how can he cut any form of corporate welfare?...He throws out the old line of getting rid of "waste, fraud, and abuse," but every candidate says that. In fact, Trump never talks about cutting the budget. Our debt is slowly destroying the country, and he has no plan to reduce deficits.

Even more alarmingly, Trump has criticized Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia...

...Trump's attitude seems to be that he likes affirmative action, regardless of the results...Can we really afford to have a president appointing more supreme court justices who support such discrimination?

Racial discrimination against whites and Asians, also known as affirmative action, is just fine with Donald Trump. On Meet the Press..."I lived with it for a long time. And I've had great relationships with lots of people. So I'm fine with it."

Lastly, Trump blasted Ted Cruz for acting like a "maniac" in his fight against the establishment GOP in the U.S. Senate...As Mark Levin noted,he seems to be labeling all of us who supported Cruz's efforts to stop Obamacare and Obama's illegal amnesty and Obama's runaway spending as maniacs as well. Even Rush Limbaugh has said that Trump's tack to the left raises "red flags."......

I think Trump is worth taking a chance on. If he gets the nomination, I'll roll the dice and vote for him.

HEY! Stop cribbing my phrase. :)

Your reading comprehension is as weak as your arguments.

I reiterated what you said: If Donald Trump is the nominee in Nov 2016, he will do without your vote.

That’s your agenda. You prefer Hillary to Trump because you won’t vote for him, even if Cruz is Trump’s running mate.

I’m a Cruz supporter who will vote for Trump.

Completely agree with you, on this.

Completely.

Our elites have sold out what used to be the world’s manufacturing base, to China.

Both parties have been a part of the sell-out.

Trump is saying it is time to be for America once again. That is a very powerful message.

I have lost any respect I may have had for the Trump cultists.

Hopefully, most of his polling support is actually disaffected democrats and independents that won’t be able to dominate the caucuses and primaries. In the future we need to make certain that democrats don’t pick our nominees for us........like in MS last year.

Think of the same thing in the light of the Kelo decision, which he supported and used to enrich himself.

He would obviously direct those contracts to people he knows, because he knows they would do a good job. And if they get richer while doing it, so much the better.

——At this point in the game, Trump is, as far as I can tell, the only candidate offering the kind of plan that gives conservatism a chance to survive in this nation.——

What plan are you speaking of ?

Islam is the biggest threat that the world faces today and trump is by far the candidate who takes the hardest stand against Muslims

The issue of Islam should be the number one issue for any sane person, oh and Ted Cruz needs to stop saying the problem is “radical islam” because the problem is not “radical islam” its Islam

I agree. Especially about so-called radical Islam. Its Islam. Like turtles, its Islam all the way down.

When Trump is in charge of building roads, bridges, and improvements, they won't be falling apart before they're completed. There will be scrutiny over the ridiculous spending excesses, many which are observable just driving by.

So, sure, I'm okay with someone who knows how to build excellent durable things that last, on time and under budget, being in charge of responsible infrastructure upgrades.

With Trump as the White House spokesman, and Cruz running the shop?

If that were the ticket, I think Cruz would be the most influential V.P. In a long, long, time.

If that’s how you see Trump, then encourage him to bid on those infrastructure jobs.

I thought we were electing a nominee for President of the United States.

He was flailing around on stage, trying to fill his airtime talking gibberish about national security and the nuclear triad.

I support Ted Cruz who went to town but stayed faithful.
Donald Trump has never been faithful to any principle greater than himself and spent these years engaging in crony capitalism in a corrupt system to enrich himself. Now we are to believe that he has come to Jesus.
.......
Couldn’t have said it better. He is an unknown - unpredictable, a risk and a wild card. No one here can make the arguement that Trump is a conservative, but the majority of time imitates one. That said, I want Cruz and will vote Trump if so in the general election...that may be the last election if it in fact actually happens. Read into that what you wish.

VPs don't do squat. And Trump isn't going to be influenced by anyone.

re: contractors witholding 20%.

FWIW, when I have anything except plumbing, electric, or heating done, I go through a home improvement outfit that supervises subcontractors. He always witholds a percentage until the job is completed and inspected. And the job is not allowed to go over time or above budget.

I end up saving money and never having problems with the work. So, yeah, I'd agree with you. If this contractor isn't getting all of her money, there must be a reason.
