Some news over the weekend suggests that there has been some meaningful movement in the Republican presidential race. Specifically, recent polls show that Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has moved ahead of Donald Trump in Iowa and is gaining on him elsewhere. Maybe this is the start of a significant shift in the race, although it is still a little early and most voters are still undecided about who to vote for. But Cruz does have a major advantage over Trump, one that is perhaps beginning to make a difference. The advantage is this: Cruz is a Republican. And Republican voters are ultimately going to nominate a legitimate, conservative Republican.
Regardless of what you think of Cruz â and plenty of good Republicans in Washington, particularly his colleagues in the Senate, donât like him â his Republican credentials and commitment to the conservative cause cannot be questioned. Cruzâs financial contributors are Republicans, his key personnel and organizers are Republicans and his supporters are mostly people who tend to reliably vote in GOP primaries. Not to mention, Cruz won a tough primary and was overwhelmingly elected in Texas, an anchor Republican state....

Based on what evidence? That’s what they said about Ronald Reagan in 1980. How’d that turn out?
The 2nd most stupiest thing I have read here.
Seems to me it’s the “proven Republicans” who are talking about supporting Hillary when Trump gets the nomination.
The real divide in this country isn’t Democrats and Republicans. It’s the globalist elites vs. nationalist Americans. That’s why the GOPe is more comfortable with Hillary than Donald.
Once the media starts digging into Cruz's religious background and Rafael's anointing him as a 'king', it's all over.
Then you proceed to criticize Cruz. Funny how Trumpsters do that.
Didn’t. But that is the record of Republican nominees since 1988 - distinctly NOT conservative. What makes the author think that 2016 will be different?
it won’t even be Cruz for nominee if he gets ahead of Trump. That’s the GOPe’s newest strategy. Like when ISIS used our own planes against us to bring down the towers, GOP wants to use conservatives to bring down their frontrunner.
Cruz has let Trump barrel ahead, take fire for months now while Cruz hid in the bushes. Now Cruz thinks he can just take out his cover and rise to the top. Doesn’t work that way. If the guy blasting your enemies is gone and you’re in the open, goodbye.
How's this?
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz whose father is Rafael Cruz, a rabid right-wing Christian preacher and the director of the Purifying Fire International ministry â and legions of the senators wealthy supporters, some of whom orchestrated the shutdown, are rooted in a radical Christian ideology known as Dominionism or Christian Reconstructionism.
This ideology calls on anointed Christian leaders to take over the state and make the goals and laws of the nation biblical. It seeks to reduce government to organizing little more than defense, internal security and the protection of property rights. It fuses with the Christian religion the iconography and language of American imperialism and nationalism, along with the cruelest aspects of corporate capitalism. The intellectual and moral hollowness of the ideology, its flagrant distortion and misuse of the Bible, the contradictions that abound within it â its leaders champion small government and a large military, as if the military is not part of government â and its laughable pseudo-science are impervious to reason and fact. And that is why the movement is dangerous.
The cult of masculinity, as in all fascist movements, pervades the ideology of the Christian right. The movement uses religion to sanctify military and heroic âvirtues,â glorify blind obedience and order over reason and conscience, and pander to the euphoria of collective emotions. Feminism and homosexuality, believers are told, have rendered the American male physically and spiritually impotent. Jesus, for the Christian right, is a man of action, casting out demons, battling the Antichrist, attacking hypocrites and ultimately slaying nonbelievers.
Wait till the media starts running with this.
Keep using those Dem talking points. You forgot to mention Goldman Sachs and Canada.
Trump is the ultimate polarizer.
I’m not that impressed with Rafael but not that sure it
will have much of an impact upon Ted if he’s the nominee.
Yeah, that shutdown really hurt the GOP - they only got the biggest House majority in recent history and regained the majority in the Senate in the next election...
If you you are going to regurgitate MSM and GOPe talking points, at least do us all the favor of spell-checking your work...
The 2nd most stupiest thing I have read here.
I read here a few days ago from a poster...
“Trump is the greatest American since George Washington”

Can you top that? :-)
Oil & Gas are the 2nd largest contributor by dollar amount, followed by law firms and lawyers.
Securities and Investments are #5 on the list.
But, don't let the facts get in your way.
Unless the media makes it a point. Conservative backgrounds and relationships are always in question. For liberals, not so much.

With the Trumpkins??????????????? Vet, they’re skipping down the Yellow Brick Road!!!!!!!!!!!
Read this exchange on Limbaugh as he tried to discuss with a
Trumpkin—
CALLER: Socially conservative and fiscally conservative.
RUSH: All right. So are you thinking Trump is the same or does it not matter as much to you?
CALLER: Here’s the way I look at it. It’s over for the United States if we don’t win this election. Trump can win. We have to win back our country. We cannot have another Romney. We cannot have another McCain. And I look at Ted Cruz as being almost like a Romney; he’s gonna lose.
RUSH: Well, but wait. He’s not like Romney in any way shape manner or form other than if he would lose, he might have that in common, but that’s it.
CALLER: Yeah. That’s what, I mean.
RUSH: But you’re not worried that Trump isn’t who he says he is? There’s none of that? You don’t have any doubts? There are no red flags?
CALLER: I mean, you know, I’m not gonna agree with everything that Trump does, but I just want him to win back our country, our freedoms, and just get our jobs back so people are working again here in the United States.
RUSH: Okay. Well, so you’re taking him at his word.
CALLER: Yes.
RUSH: When you hear him jump on Cruz the same way Democrats in the media and the Republican establishment jumps on Cruz, that doesn’t raise a little red flag for you?
CALLER: He’s gotta do his strategy, okay? Trump has to do his strategy. I don’t know what his best strategy is. You see his polls going up, Rush, his numbers going up.
RUSH: Hey, I’m just asking. You know, I’m not hiding an opinion in my question. Don’t anybody think that. YOU SEE WHAT I’M GETTING AT HER FOLKS? (My caps)
Yes who wouldn’t want to be running behind at 14% to 41%?
When’s the national primary?
