As Ted Cruz becomes an ever present threat to his lead in Iowa, Donald Trump is trying several new attack lines against the senator from Texas.
'I don't think he's qualified to be president,' Trump said on Fox News Sunday.
When pressed by host Chris Wallace, Trump explained that Cruz â known for his bullish behavior in Washington â didn't have the right 'temperament' to be commander in chief.
'When you look at the way he's dealt with the Senate, where he goes in there like, frankly, a little bit like a maniac â you're never going to get things done that way,' Trump said.
...
On Fox, where Trump took a tougher tone, he used Cruz's Washington reputation against the senator.
'You can't walk into the Senate and scream and call people liars and not be able to cajole and get along with people,' Trump said. 'Liar,' is what Cruz branded Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in July during a fiery floor speech.
'He'll never get anything done and that's the problem with Ted,' Trump added.
Sitting down with CNN's Jake Tapper, Trump talked about having a cordial relationship with Cruz.

What experience is he lacking? That is more than Donald.
That is very similar to what I’ve been saying lately, so allow me to harmonize.
Trump is a populist/deconstructionist candidate. And he is what we need right now. The system is so stacked against small government conservatives and in favor of the elites and establishment that we NEED someone to tear it down. From my best guess, Cruz might be able to damage it, but Trump is the candidate best positioned to rip the elitist establishment apart.
After that, a conservative/reconstructionist Cruz candidacy would be perfectly poised to re-establish the Constitutional limits on what’s left of the establishment.
And for those who may be concerned about Cruz’s squishiness on the immigration issue, a Trump presidency, if successful, should take that matter mostly off the table, or at least it will be less absolutely-freaking-vital than it is now.
If you were the only conservative in the Senate I challenge you to get anything passed. He does what he can which is procedural checks and debating. Trump’s leadership is bankruptcy a couple times. Please.
Rush agrees with my assessment.
If being a bull disqualifies you.....bye bye Trump!
That is a legitimate concern.
Donald Trump won’t be able to control himself or help himself in the debates tomorrow night and make a fool and a ass of himself in front of the nation, he will lose his cool.
That’s exact!y what Ted Cruz was referring to.
What people seem to forget is that Ted Cruz has had face to face conversations with Donald Trump and may have pick up on his temperament, ideocincrisies of his personaly.
George Patton to German Gen. Rommel “ Rommel you magnificent bastard ! I read your book “.
