Ted Cruz's "Personality Problem"
Conservative Review ^ | December 14, 2015 | Amanda Carpenter

Posted on 12/13/2015 7:44:20 PM PST by JSDude1

In Republican circles, it’s not uncommon for people to say while they trust Ted Cruz on the issues, they worry he’s not likeable.

Donald Trump has even picked up on the fretting and made Cruz’s personality the centerpiece of his critique of the Texas Senator. On Fox News Sunday, Trump complained - without an iota of self-awareness - that Cruz is too brash. “You can’t walk into the Senate, and scream, and call people liars, and not be able to cajole and get along with people. He’ll never get anything done. And, that’s the problem with Ted,” Trump declared.

But the problem isn’t with Ted; it’s with the Washington cabal that erupts with fury each time Ted refuses to play along with their clubby parlor games.

DC Republicans couldn’t attack Cruz on the issues--he was usually fighting to advance conservative causes they themselves claimed to care about--so they attacked his personality again and again and again. The first attacks started with John McCain’s decision to label Cruz and other conservative rabble rousers “wacko birds” shortly after Cruz arrived in the Capitol.

So before anyone starts hand wringing about Cruz not making enough friends, it’s worth looking at who he’s not making friends with and why.

It’s not the voters who don’t find him friendly; it’s GOP old bulls such as McCain, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the amnesty-supporting U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Wall Street Journal editorial board who find it difficult to get along with Cruz. And lots and lots and lots of lobbyists and consultants connected to those same entities. - See more at: https://www.conservativereview.com/commentary/2015/12/ted-cruz-personality-problem#sthash.ElJMFFnJ.dpuf

I find him very likable. He has no personality problem. That’s just made up by people who want to score political points with it or want to create an excuse for their being weak while Cruz is strong.

Great article. If Trump doesn’t make it ,I will vote for Ted if he can get by the Supreme Court on article II. I love the guy.

You can't walk into the Senate, and scream, and call people liars, and not be able to cajole and get along with people. He'll never get anything done. And, that's the problem with Ted." Trump declared.

I want honesty and integrity. Show me where Ted's wrong, then we'll talk.

I'd rather be friends with Ted than McCain, McConnell or any other Benedict RINO.

They can campaign on his personality like its a student council popularity contest, what they don't want to campaign against Cruz with is issues and principles. He can't rebut personality claims, but on the issues he destroys them.

Yep, if Cruz was a “go along to get along” type of Senator when he in Washington in the midst of a cesspool of ‘RAT & RINO corruption, he wouldn’t be the incorruptible constitutional conservative fighter that we love & respect.

I know what you mean. I feel with the illegal election of the evil Obama, we are living in a post Constitutional post patriotic America. Maybe Cruz can restore us to a more Constitutional republic and we can respect Article II instead of having to pull the enemy's trick of the ends justify the means.

Ted Cruz is disliked by the wrong people, and he is disliked by the right people.

The media, The Washington Cartel GOPe and Trump are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

BEEP ! BEEP ! Road Runner !

Why is Trump retracting his statement about banning Muslims from entering the USA now ?

Now he is saying , ban Islamists, not Muslims..

His back peddling retreat defeat makes him look weak and desperate now, biting off more than he could chew.

Like Willey Coyote....

His supporters cheered him on and now he has to back peddle his statements , a partial retreat, making look weak.

This piece completely destroys Trump. His whole campaign, and the reason ‘conservatives’ say they like him, his is attack of the GOPe. So now he's criticizing Cruz for calling Mitch a liar? But this won't matter to a single Trumpbot. Not one of them.

If Cruz had ever screamed on the floor of the Senate, I’m pretty sure we’d have all seen the video of it scores of times by now.

I sure hope so. I am tired of ignoring the Constitution. It must be strictly followed or we have nothing. We need a clear ruling on Cruz’s illegibility. I hope he finds out — sooner and not later . Go Cruz!!

Good grief! He clarified his statement, hardly makes him weak. Most are coming to his side on this now because he’s not weak, he suggests solutions.

What other solutions has any candidate made to make us safe. Especially that damn Senate that can’t even pause the Syrian invasion.
