In A First, Trump Goes On Offensive Against Cruz
Texas Tribune ^

Billionaire Donald Trump on Friday went on the offensive against U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, putting an end to the most closely watched alliance in the GOP race for the White House.

Speaking in Iowa, Trump launched his first attack on Cruz by zeroing in on the senator's opposition to ethanol standards, an issue dear to Iowan hearts.

"He’s got to come a long way because he’s right now for the oil," Trump said at a rally in Des Moines. "I understand it. Oil pays him a lot of money. He’s got to be for oil, right? The oil companies give him a lot of money, but I’m with you.”

Later in the rally, Trump suggested Cruz's stance on ethanol subsidies could be a stumbling block in the first-in-the-country caucus state, where the senator has been rising in the polls.

"If Ted Cruz is against ethanol, how does he win in Iowa? Because that’s very anti-Iowa," Trump said.

Trump's criticism of Cruz on ethanol echoes that of America's Renewable Future, an advocacy group in Iowa that has been hammering Cruz for his opposition to the Renewable Fuel Standard. Cruz's campaign has countered that he opposes all energy subsidies, not just those that favor ethanol producers but also ones that benefit the oil industry.

so you support ethanol? Are you crazy?

Terrorists are popping up all over the place and you're worried about Ethanol??? You and your family must be immune from schools and malls and hospitals being blown up...I'm not immune so it is an issue right at the top of the list...Ethanol doesn't even register on my 'I really care' scale...

Well, unlike you, I can contemplate more than one issue at a time. I know, it must be bizarre for you to conceptualize. Also unlike you, I see the very foundational tie ethanol has to everything wrong with our crony government and crony businesses and even the phony man made climate change movement. I see the big picture, connect the dots. Sorry you don't. That's why you don't care about ethanol. You are not wary enough to understand, like Kelo, it's ENORMOUS ramifications for the entire relationship between government and business. Damn dude. This crap destroys engines and raised food inflation and enriches back stabbing corn lobbyists and so on. WAKE TFU!

If Cruz dropped out of the race, his support would go to hillary...

If Cruz "dropped out of the race" I would sooner write-in his name than vote for faux conservative reality TV star real estate swindler government crony Trump.

"AMERICAN oil has almost made us indy from Arab oil. OPEC is not even a factor anymore

Get back on your meds.
From Wiki
As of March 2015, 85% of crude oil imports came from (in decreasing volume): Canada, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Venezuela, and Colombia. 19% of imported oil comes from the Middle East. The fraction of crude oil consumed in the U.S. that was imported went from 35% immediately before the 1973 oil crisis, peaked at 60% in 2005, and then returned to 35% by 2013 thanks to increased domestic production from the shale oil boom

do the math dude.....19% of 35% = 7% roughly.....NOT A MAJOR FACTOR, certainly not in pricing, compared historically.

Damn, what some phony conservatives will do to suddenly be pro ethanol subsidy supporters......holy moly.

I seriously hope that all these Trumpanzees have their houses condemned and taken from them by Eminent Domain.  That and may their carburetors gum completely up on their backup generators... when it is 15 below zero.

...yeah, maybe then it would dawn on them the inherent evils of both Kelo and ethanol and go WAY BEYOND just those two issues......

Since you like to list Trump’s supposed support for the Obama agenda, which, for him, were only intellectual endeavors, try this on for size with Cruz’s support of the Obama agenda:

Your man Cruz supported, with VOTES:

TPA,(he was for it before he was against it) — integral part of Obama’s agenda and the One World commmunity

Corker bill, a most critical part of the Obama agenda, a bill written by the Obama White House that carries the possible extinction of multitudes, including You

Called for a 500% increase in H1-B visas and an increase in immigration numbers and legalization of illegals

If Cruz can change his mind (supposedly) after a VOTE, and his change of mind be accepted, why can’t Trump’s change of mind be accepted?

"You’re sounding like a Democrat.

What’s going on here!?"

What's going on is that a lot of Trump supporters are either liberal, or moderate-to-liberal, and they're feeling safe enough to let it show. I've seen posts supporting Obamacare, dismissing abortion as no big deal, and saying we need to temporarily ditch the Constitution. Oh, and claims of support for the Patriot Act, saying that you shouldn't mind having your calls monitored if you have nothing to hide.

And they expect conservatives to support Trump after seeing that.

I'm looking for one...I haven't made it through this thread, so I haven't COMPLETELY lost hope...

What’s nasty is Trump’s liberalism and his attacks from the left.

Don’t you find liberalism nasty?

It sure is easy for the Trumpets to hide behind the fact that since Trump isn’t a legislator, he has no votes to second guess. Pretty convenient if you ask me.

That convenience is going to be harder for them to come by as Trump lets his core liberalism show more and more.

Right now they’re still trying to excuse it, to their shame, but there will come a tipping point.
