Straightforward. Awesome. President.
These are a handful of phrases participants used to describe Donald J. Trump in Frank Luntz's focus group Wednesday evening, nearly all supporters of the current Republican frontrunner. They were a group filled with emotion. For one man, a changing of the guard from Obama to Trump is the stuff of which political dreams are made. "I want Trump to look at Obama on Election Day and go, 'You're fired.'"
But in the wake of Trump's call this week to ban all Muslims from entering the country, which has drawn rebukes from nearly every Republican in Washington, the question Luntz came to ask was obvious: Why are you still supporting Trump? For participants in Wednesday's group, the more appropriate question was: Why not?
Luntz fielded the group's responses on a variety of Trump's most controversial statements, and, the participants - 27 Caucasians, one African American, and one Hispanic, ages 26-68 - could hardly contain their enthusiasm. "One at a time, one at a time!" Luntz interjected.
"They want to come here and blow up Americans," one woman said, responding to Luntz's query about her support for an all-out ban on the entry of Muslims into the country. It's a Trump proposal that has garnered an all-out condemnation from the Right, with Paul Ryan calling it an affront to conservatism, Marco Rubio calling it "offensive and outlandish," and Lindsey Graham calling it "race-baiting" and "xenophobic."
Another participant chimed in, "Trump is the only one who would come out and say something like this. No one else would say it. Who would say it?"
It was a window into a phenomenon that has left pundits, pollsters, and everyday Joes dumbfounded since Trump descended the escalator to announce his presidential candidacy in April.

"I tell you it was the scariest thing I've ever seen! My legs are still shaking!"
The only one that cares about the lives of the average American citizen.
“My legs are still shaking”
I remember that, it tells me which camp luntz is in. Reality is very tough for some people.
The refusal of the media and the GOPe to actually understand and accept Trump’s popularity is because if they do, they must admit they are 180 degrees out of sync with the American people.
Then take the oath and turn to Obama and say,"You are under arrest!!"
Politico: “Stormfront, the most prominent American white supremacist site, is upgrading its servers in part to cope w/ a Trump traffic spike”
I would have put a ban on right after 9-11. When the brothers Tsarneav blew up the Boston Marathon, or after any other terrorist attack, I was thinking, “What the hell are they doing here?”
“Oil the gun...eat the cannoli. Take it to the Mattress.”
Oil the gun...eat the cannoli. Take it to the landfill!
People have had it with the Uni-party.
Cruz is my first choice, but they wouldn’t back him financially. They’d prefer Hillary to Trump or Cruz and have said as much.
Trump’s money is the game changer. He can do it completely without anyone else.
9/11 was probable cause enough.
These establishment idiots are immune to common sense. I think it’s a mass hysteria.
Which is why the GOP is brewing a seedy, smelly plan to deny him the nomination (check out Rush’s show from yesterday)
This article, while pretending to report something positive about Trump’s campaign, is really just thinly disguised anti-Trump propaganda. It’s as if someone was forced to report on people’s positive reactions to Trump, and simply took the opportunity to plant as many negatives about him as possible into the story. For instance, they report that a recent Monmouth poll has Cruz ahead in Iowa (Cruz seems to be the last, desperate anti-Trump flavor of the month, since none of the other losers the press has tried to pump up has even come close to working). They DON’T report that in the CNN/ORC poll, which came out at the same time, Trump leads Cruz by 13 points. It seems that every negative comment about Trump made by any of the focus group members is seized upon and repeated, giving the author a chance to regurgitate every anti-Trump talking point they can possibly come up. It’s subversive “reporting” like this that’s as much our enemy, this time around, as the Democrats.
That’s an interesting perspective. Mine was surprise that National Review placed an article so prominently that very accurately reported upon the fiercely loyal level of a Trump voter ... no matter what. Which is exactly why they asked “anti-Trump propaganda” questions. There was nothing that swayed a Trump supporter from their candidate.
I read that the GOPe money backers hired dufus to do these focus groups to see where Trump’s weaknesses are with his voters.
Once found, if found, they will use their money in attack ads on Trump.
Leave it to the stupid party (GOPe) to denounce him as a racist, then keep repeating liberal (and muzzie) talking points in an effort to destroy him. They could have been scoring points with the electorate by talking about ways to deal with radical Islam, but nooooo, they have to keep being stupid.
The only other intelligent candidate on this matter has been Cruz, and he's getting the same damn treatment.
I think well over 50% of the electorate actually like this plan, yet the democrat/media/GOPe complex keeps trying to turn the tide.
