House set to tighten restrictions on visa-free travel to the US in response to Paris attacks

Legislation denying visa-free travel to anyone who's been in Iraq or Syria in the past five years is set for a vote in the House on Tuesday and is likely to pass by a wide bipartisan margin. The bill also makes a series of other changes to the visa waiver program, which allows citizens of 38 countries to travel to the U.S. without a visa for stays of 90 days or less.

"A radical with a French passport or a Belgian passport can get on a plane in Brussels or Paris today and come to America no questions asked, be here for 90 days, without us knowing any better," House Speaker Paul Ryan said Monday on The Big AM 1380, a radio station in Janesville, Wisconsin.

“ISIS will hit again. Guess who people will then have to acknowledge as the one that actually had the foresight to take the right position, and who were the ones opposed to it?”

I was thinking just that - he has until next November and there’s sure to be another attack somewhere in the world before then.

The difference is that they recognize the danger but would allow it to continue until they come up with new rules.
Trump would end the danger now until they come up with new rules.

That’s not much of a difference and the advantage IMO would go to the person who wants to end the danger now.

There are more bills on other dangers in the system and I assume Cruz supports them.

So it comes down to end the acknowledged danger now, or allow it to continue until congress and the president have acted.
Any good president would have taken steps to protect us already.

Another "great pause" in immigration to this country is long overdue.

What I want to know, is under a POTUS Trump, if Obama and Jarrett leave the country will they be permitted to come back? If not then Trump has my vote. I like this plan.

I do to, but I liked what Goldwater had to day also. Took a licking.

ISIS will hit again. Guess who people will then have to acknowledge as the one that actually had the foresight to take the right position, and who were the ones opposed to it?

Trump also got the left off of their BS “ban guns” rhetoric, and got the issue back on Islam.

Rita, Jane, and DO - to this from VanDeKoik. Pretty insightful points!

Trump has once again changed the topic - gun control is no longer the issue!

And when another attack occurs before next November, Trump will be the one out in front of it, the one positioned to protect Americans.

I agree with Trump, however he probably should have said a “moritorium” on the enterance of Muslims.
__________________________________________________________

But that would not have grabbed as much attention in the media and from the uniparty.

He said it the way he did for effect.

People will find out the whole statement in time.

> Agreed. I’d include Pakistan, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Jordan, Lebanon - “...until we know what’s going on”, as the Donald said.

I’d also include Londonistan & Swedistan and maybe a few other European targets of infiltration.

Exactly Libertynotfree, All that will happen is the fake passports they are using now will be redone so they don’t show any visits to Syria and Iran. Done! They will now comply with the feel good law.

I don’t like that plan. I don’t believe Obama or Jarrett should be allowed to leave the country let alone the cell they will get to know very well.

Then let the House get a new Speaker.

One who is committed to America instead of the open borders fanaticism of his US Chamber of Commerce paymasters.

Only certain people.

There are other countries where you can not get a visa to come into the US without jumping though a bunch of hoops.

Yes, by all means. We should have a temporary ban on muslim immigrations the same way we had a temporary income tax enacted in 1913. (And various other temporary taxes since then)
