With terrorists and other shooters on the lookout for "soft targets," former Los Angeles police detective Mark Fuhrman urged gun owners on Friday to ignore rules prohibiting firearms.
Fuhrman said on "The Laura Ingraham Show" that businesses and other locations that ban guns usually do not have metal detectors.
"Stop playing by the rules," he said. "Do what you feel in your heart of hearts. You keep your gun. You take it with you."
Fuhrman's advice comes as the nation reels from the latest mass shooting, in which a California couple killed 14 people and injured 21 at an office Christmas party on Wednesday. The couple, Syed Rizwan Farook, and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, both died in a shootout with police after they opened fire on innocent Americans going about their day. Officials now say that Malik had pledged allegiance on Facebook to the leader of ISIS.

Tried by 9?
Mark Furhman -— now there’s a name I haven’t seen in a long time.
Gun free zones is an invite. Shows you the unrelenting stupidity of the liberal
See my tagline
I wasn’t commenting on the content of the article. Only the name which I had not seen for a long time.
It is an old saying, I first heard as a boy in the sixties. Defend yourself even if charged with a crime. Better than being a victom and dead.
Heaven is the only gun free zone that I respect.
I no longer fly {unless it is absolutely necessary}, try to avoid schools, gummint buildings and any place where metal detectors are in use.
It is not possible to carry 100% of the time, but I carry as much as possible.
I also train {body and mind} and shoot with regularity.
If you are not well trained and don't have the mental conviction to effectively use a gun, don't carry one because you will cause yourself more potential harm than good.
Mark Furhman is correct, carry whenever possible.
How many Freepers who are long-time holders of concealed carry permits have ever been discovered to be carrying when going about their lives in public?
My God-given natural right to keep and bear arms is nearly absolute (”shall not be infringed” is a much stronger statement than “Congress shall make no law”), but I will not take this advice. My God-given natural property rights are also nearly absolute - regardless of silly laws attempting to compel me to cater to those I choose not to serve.
The two sets of rights do not conflict. If some sissy restaurateur does not want guns on his property, I will not be eating there. He can pay the price of a boycott by the decent half of the population. If a mall does not want my business on my terms, I’ll shop elsewhere or online to the limited extent that I shop. Psychopaths, terrorists, and other democrats can (barely) read and will launch their attacks in gun-free zones, where the only hopes are (1) people who follow the above advice and carry anyways, or (2) the SWAT team 30 minutes later. I can’t keep everyone safe, but my choices will keep me and my family safer, while those who oppose guns will face more danger.
Juries are usually 12, not 9.
Twice for me, since ‘75.
Once by a friendly LEO who saw my untucked shirt up over the Kimber 1911’s holster, at a 7-11. Got a friendly wave warning.
Other by medical personnel when weighing-in a dr’s office. Was told I’d have to leave medical complex and call back for new app’t.
Mark Fuhrman, a good cop pilloried for not calling a spade a shovel.
Ignore gun-free zones? The entire State of California is effectively a “gun free zone.”
Ok. Go ahead and carry in California, if one must go there.
So, what do these metal detectors look like? I see those scanners that detect theft almost everywhere but I don't think I would know a metal detector if I saw one. Do they hide them? I'm serious. I'm in South Tennessee and I don't know that I have ever seen one anywhere. I have never flown on an airplane and don't plan to and I avoid states that don't have reciprocity with TN but I would like to be able to recognize a metal detector.
They , of course, buzz when you go in. If it buzzes, you turn around and leave. There is no crime (yet) for setting off a metal dectector...it is ignoring it and moving past it. The buzz doesn’t mean you are busted, it means you cannot move forward. If you are inside a gun-free zone and are “discovered”...first shame in you, you flashed or printed, it is called CONCEALED carry for a reason, no one should ever know you are carrying. But if it happens, they can only ask you to leave, if you do not, then it is “trespassing ...a misdemeanor. Just leave. Exceptions are school zones where people make their own local laws. A gun-free zone sign should raise your awareness from normal yellow to red. It is target rich, and you are the target.
Thanks! Gun free zones are required to be posted in TN and if they are I don’t go in whether I am carrying or not. I just wasn’t sure if the metal detectors were noticeable or hidden. I suppose items other than guns could also set them off. TN is open or concealed carry and I see a lot of people carrying openly but I don’t.
Excellent advice.
