Haider Al-Abadi: "The unauthorized presence of Turkish troops in Mosul province is a serious breach of Iraqi sovereignty"
This is interesting.
Maybe a little playing off of Russia against US, and what about the Kurds... and all that oil?
They violated Iraqi ground space, shoot them down.
Russia is there at the invitation of Iraq.
Why would Turkey attack their oil business partner?
Didn’t the Iraq PM mention several weeks ago he would consider asking Russia for help against ISIS?
Maybe this is Turkey’s way of recalling ISIS, with Iraqi suspecting that Turkey might stay for awhile.
If the Russian narrative is correct, Turkey is not attacking ISIS, but replacing them.
Mosul is not now and has not been Iraq in some time now
Mosul is an important Iraqi asset. If it turns out the Turks have backed ISIS all along, we are starting to see them play their hand.

Prime Minister's Media Office: The Iraqi government calls on Turkey to respect good neighbourly relations and to withdraw immediately from the Iraqi territory
Dec 3 2015
It has been confirmed to us that Turkish troops numbering around one regiment armoured with tanks and artillery entered the Iraqi territory, and specifically the province of Nineveh claim that they are training Iraqi groups without the request or authorization from the Iraqi federal authorities and this is considered a serious breach of Iraqi sovereignty and does not conform with the good neighbourly relations between Iraq and Turkey.
The Iraqi authorities call on Turkey to respect good neighbourly relations and to withdraw immediately from the Iraqi territory. Prime Minister's Media Office

This kind of crap is why American assets should be out of there immediately.
We shall see if the Russian-Iraqi alliance has any teeth now.
Actually I think it was the invitation of Syria.
Plenty of oil to try to take advantage of as well as lots of Kurds to hinder.
Suck it up buttercup you made your bed, go lay in it.
One forgets, before 9-11, Russia had huge investments in Iraq.
And of course, Syria and Russia have been allies for 50 years.
“Turkey may not be in the Mosul area to attack ISIS or train Iraqi troops, as other stories have claimed.”
Turkey is probably there to:
a. Support ISIS
b. Attack the PKK Kurds
C. Both
Nineveh Province, where Mosul is, also has a main concentration of Iraq’s ethnic Turks (Turkmen). They could be forming a militia from that population.
And, continue to profit from the oil trade even though Russia is screwing things up in Syria.
