Turkey is probably there to:
a. Support ISIS
b. Attack the PKK Kurds
C. Both
Nineveh Province, where Mosul is, also has a main concentration of Iraq’s ethnic Turks (Turkmen). They could be forming a militia from that population.
And, continue to profit from the oil trade even though Russia is screwing things up in Syria.
