ABC News reports that he was long-term employee of the San Bernardino Department of Health. He formerly worked in Cape May County, New Jersey, as a health inspector. The station says that Thalasinos' wife, Jennifer, works as a teacher in southern California. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two adult sons.
The day before his death he posted on Facebook that he had received a threat telling him that he would "die and never see Israel." One of the many tributes to Thalasinos that have been posted on his page read "It is my honest belief that Nicholas was murdered because of his alliance with Israel and Jewish people."
In the wake of the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood shooting on November 27, Thalasinos wrote a series of tweets:

Thanks, ETL, we lost a good man that day, may he rest peacefully in the arms of our lord and savior Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord.............
Thalasinos will see the New Jerusalem in eternity whereas his murderous terrorists will never see anything but the Old Hades hotpits as their just islamic rewards.
Thank you.
Yes,he is a son of the Light.
God Bless him and strengthen his family! We lost a good man and an obvious friend and patriot the other day. He was neither ashamed nor afraid to proclaim and defend his faith and country in the face of evil.
Sadly he was in a state that does not allow him to defend himself.
A man’s man was he
I salute him
