Three things about Donald Trump have now become clear to the Republican establishment:
1) He might not implode before people start voting for president next year.
2) He could actually wind up as the Republican nominee for president.

Right to Rise raised more than $103 million in the first six months of this year. It spent - as I mentioned above - $28 million on ads. Let's say the organization has spent another $15 million on fundraising, consulting fees and other miscellaneous costs. And let's assume, just for the sake of this argument, that Right to Rise hasn't raised ANY more money since June 30. (It, of course, has.) A little simple math gets you this: Right to Rise should have (at least) $60 million left to spend on this race.
That's a ton of cash. And while I know Right to Rise already has a plan in place to spend down its massive wad throughout February and March (and beyond) in hopes that Bush, eventually, emerges as the top choice, I just don't see a lot of evidence that the race will yield that scenario unless there is a massive shakeup some time soon.
So, why not change course and use all of that money to try to make such a shakeup happen? Simply put: Take all of the ad time Right to Rise has reserved in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina and turn the firehose on full blast against Trump. I am talking about a sustained ad campaign whose sole aim is to disqualify Trump - not boost Bush. Sure, Bush and Right to Rise have jabbed at Trump - and a John Kasich super PAC has gone into full attack mode against The Donald - but no one other than the Bush forces have money

I'm sure Mike Murphy would LOVE to spend the rest of his donors millions on advertising in the next 60 days and collect all of those fat ad media commissions kickbacks from the TV and radio stations.
Drain the Right to Rise donor bank account in 60 days? Sounds like something Karl Rove would try to do, too.
And at the end of it, Trump is +10.
Bush doesn’t have a ceiling, so the sky’s the limit for him, while poor old Trump has a ceiling, and can’t go any higher. Yes, the Bush skyrocket is about to take off, all he needs to do is spend another $30-40 MILLION, and he should skyrocket up to 8 percent, while poor Trump lingers at 27 percent.
Nobody wants Yeb! to give away the country to his beloved Mexicans.
The Cheap Labor Express has loads of money to prevent us from electing anyone who would stop them.
They are keeping their options open with Rubio, the backstabber.
LOL. Mike really outdid himself this time. He used the famous Bush rolodex to build a fat meal ticket — Right to Rise — then he’s going to dump Bush and continue it (and his six / seven figure salary, first class air travel, luxury hotel suites and other perks) for as long as he can scare or sucker other GOP donors into keeping it going as the last defense against Prince of Darkness Trump.
Bush really got played for a chump. If Mike keeps this up, I may actually feel sorry for Jeb at some point.
Here is a novel idea. How about taking all of that money and using it to defeat Hillary?
And when the votes start to get counted, it will be Trump +20plus over the competition. You'll see. :-)
Taking on water and listing badly is more accurate.
All you gotta do is blow donor money to bring down Trump.
The argument is taking Trump out will save the establishment.
Their problem is they have no credibility and watching their candidates is like watching paint dry.
Why not spend the money to elect Hillary? That’s whom they want anyway and its a much better return for the money.
D*mn, the GOPe is a bunch of idiots.
..gonna help save us from The Donald.
The mere whiff of Rove’s smell landing on Carson was his kiss of death and the start of Carson’s decline in the polls.
GOPe still doesn’t get it.
Bush and the broader establishment that he represents needs to understand that these are desperate times for them. Standing on the sidelines is no longer a viable option. Waiting for someone else to do it won't work. Someone needs to step up and try to take Trump out if, indeed, the establishment believes that The Donald as the party's nominee is a catastrophic situation.”
The Washington Post desperately wants the Republicans to lose.
Their advice is simple. Republicans should not try to reach out to voters or deliver a positive or important message.
They say Republicans should spend all their donor's money on negative ads attacking Trump.
Feel as sorry for Jeb as Jeb felt for Terri Schiavo.
OTOH If they started promoting Trump, it might bring him down.
Because defeating Hitlery is not the goal, silly.
And it WILL have an impact.
If they run ONE ad, Trump should make ads featuring all the donors and officials of the PACs, and broadcast the most nefarious things they have done, the lies they have told, the horrible policies they have supported...and just say, is THAT what you want instead of me?
Bush would join Clinton as a unity ticket in order to stop Trump.

The GOPe is all about being the controlled well paid well fed opposition.
