Russia announced on Tuesday that by the end of this month it will deploy the latest version of its giant command and control aircraft designated for use during nuclear war or national disasters. The flying command center will be able to coordinate the worldwide operations of its ground, naval, air and missile forces, including nuclear weapons, as well as the country's satellites. Russian military sources said that the Ilyushin-80 jet would be used when the command infrastructure is disrupted due to a nuclear war, or when ground communication systems are absent. The sources said the plane will be permanently staffed with senior generals, operational commanders and technicians.

Looks like a Velociraptor’s head.

Regardless, it won’t be worried about an errant S-400 locking onto them.

Off hand, it looks to me like a two-sided planar phased array probably in L or S band. Not rotating like some of ours have. It’s probably faster in terms of tracking multiple targets. Probably has at least a 400 km range also. Just wild ass guessing from a picture.

I thought it looked pretty cool.

What do you make of those pods on either side, inboard of the engines?

From Wiki
Unlike the standard Il-86 airliner, the Il-80 has two electrical generator pods mounted inboard of the engine nacelles :)

Thanks!

I was thinking maybe they might be some kind of laser from what appear to be clear dome covers in front of each?
