Texas Sen. Ted Cruz declined to close the door to a potential pathway to legal status for the 11 million people in the U.S. illegally Friday, saying he wouldnât elaborate on his plans for them until after the border is secure.
Seeking to carve out a space between real estate mogul Donald Trump, who is calling for the forcible deportation of those in the U.S. illegally, and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who co-authored the Gang of Eight comprehensive immigration reform bill that included a pathway to citizenship, Cruz would not explicitly rule out a pathway to legal status for the undocumented.

You keep saying that and while it is true, you always neglect to mention that there were several existing states (mine is one) where that was ALREADY illegal.
Cruz is not “categorically opposed to amnesty” or he would be forthrightly against legalization.
He’s an attorney and he has to know that he is misusing the term amnesty if he uses it to mean “I myself wouldn’t grant citizenship to illegals”.
First, by US law illegals should not be allowed to stay in this country, but he’d allow them to stay—which is granting them amnesty.
Second, once legalized, they are sure to be granted citizenship soon enough anyway.
His policy would pretty much guaranty that he would be the last supposedly conservative president that we have—just as his tax plan to add a VAT to our current federal income tax would guaranty that we’d end up with European-level taxes soon enough.
It is good to remember that he has been very successful raising big money and that his chief fundraiser is a partner at Goldman. His positions have the sound of conservatism, but they are actually very much in line with the uniparty that he rails against.
Thank you for reading his mind.
Feel free to post that as much as you want, but nothing can ever camouflage Trump’s liberal stripes - his self-promoting spots.
They never revoked a standing law - and THAT is the difference that you want to ignore or gloss over.
You seem to think that’s a big deal - I don’t. Some states had better sense to start with.
There’s really no point in discussing a how a dead skunk in the middle of the road got run over now. It’s just there.
The only acceptable solution is Trumps', enforce existing immigration law. Build the wall.
Cruz is the "bad boy" in "the GOPe club", but he is in the GOPe club.
I know that revoking instate tuition was (and is) a HUGE deal. Walker knows you take away the magnets. He also knows you must take away the Left’s money and muscle by beating the union bosses, cutting the size of WI’s government payroll and taking tenure out of the WI state constitution (he’s done all of the above).
Cruz can not be trusted, look at how often he flip flops on issues!
What, you don’t think Princeton and Harvard-educated Cruz knows that he’s misusing the term ‘amnesty’ while he’s trying to mislead the electorate? You think it is a simple lack of understanding on his part?
Bull, Jeff Sessions lead the fight in the Senate.
Actually, I tend to rely on what he has done in his efforts than to opine what he’d do in the future based on this one article.
Okay....and Georgia strengthened its laws with respect to illegal alien employment, IDs, etc. in addition to the already illegal act of getting in-state tuition if you are an illegal. HUGE is a matter of perspective.
Cruz is on the Cheap Labor Express. No doubt.
Cruz has repeatedly been asked this and he has repeatedly refused to answer.
He’s my second choice in this election and I’m for a Trump/Cruz ticket, but he is an oily pol.
He’s my #1, Trump #2....a team is okay too.
He has been saying the same thing all along,Secure the border before any discussion on the illegals already here,we all agree the border must be secured, nobody agrees on what to do about the ones here already for decades,so accomplish what we can agree on then move on to the rest, makes sense to me
