Karl Rove moves to bankroll Ben Carson
Washington Examiner ^ | 11/28/15 | RUDY TAKALA

Republican strategist Karl Rove may be moving to help bankroll Ben Carson in the presidential race.

Reports say Rove helped to set up a meeting between Carson's campaign and billionaire Steve Wynn, but additional details were not immediately clear. Wynn, who owns casinos and hotels across the country, has contributed a combined $30,000 to political action committees associated with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in this election cycle.

Ben Carson presently ranks fourth in the Washington Examiner's power rankings.

Wynn is munificent when it comes to campaign contributions, and he rarely discriminates between parties. Federal Election Commission filings indicate Wynn has made multiple contributions to both of his state's U.S. senators, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., as well as a range of officials across the country.

In spite of his registration as a Democrat, Wynn is a familiar face to Republican leaders, who selected him to serve as the honorary co-chairmen of the Republican National Committee's finance effort in 2008. However, that was not enough to win his vote: Wynn said he voted for President Obama that year.

Carson wants to be funded by a casino operator? He should have some interesting positions now, I guess.

What good will that do? Carson, who I like, will continue to show he is not quick-witted (in the political sense), fast-talking or familiar enough with the issues to rise again in the polls. Look what money did for Bush.

Rove trying to keep Carson in to keep his votes from Trump and/or Cruz in hopes that either Jebbie or Rubio will emerge as the establishment favorite? Splitting the outsider vote while having one candidate for the squishes to coalesce around is the old Rove M.O.

“Why does Rove
want to elevate one anti-GOPe over
another?”

Because he knows that none of the GoPeeers are going to make it and it looks to them that Carson can be co-opted. Or he still has the mistaken notion that Carson can “take out’ Trump and/or Cruz.

Carson will probably deny all this, but if it`s true then he is done I would hope.

It’s a desperation move. Rove and the rest of the establishment are beginning to panic that they are about to lose control of the party apparatus.

If Trump or Cruz win the nomination they will can a lot of key RINOs and replace them with conservatives. Plus, they will re-write rules and by-laws to take away the rules that favor and privilege the establishment.

People like Rove and Mike Murphy would be tossed into the street as useless.

“If he didn’t notice, Carson is collapsing and is no longer in contention. Rove’s behavior can only help Trump.”

It actually helps Hellary as the Repubs blow their cash on a guy who is not even remotely qualified.

That just removed Carson from my list of acceptable candidates. Now it’s just Trump and Cruz.

Karl is trying to take down Trump by supporting Carson. If successful, he will then take down Carson to get the establishment candidate.

Carson does support amnesty. He meets the CofC test.

The question if Wynn want to throw his money off the roof of the Wynn towers and see his money wasted?

I don’t think so.

Rove isn’t going to the Bush Christmas party this year, is he.

I guess Rove has no loyalty to a family who made him the media star he is. THE ARCHITECT GW Bush called him with reverence./

What a disloyal A$$wipe Rove is. And Pathetic

Sounds like Karl has given up on Jeb and Rubio. Now he is backing the sinking Carson. Trump must be driving Karl nuts and he cannot think clearly. Good news IMHO.

Everything Karl Rove touches turns out badly for the American people. Just look at the state the Republican Party has come to since that short, fat, double-dealing, weasel got in there. Ben Carson would be crazy to take his endorsement or ally himself with Rove and the self-serving syndicate he represents. Average Americans are pissed off at the establishment, no Republican that allies with Rove will win unless she or he is so far ahead that it doesn't matter. That candidate is not Ben Carson.

Ben, would you drink from a punch bowl that had a turd in it? I wouldn't and most patriotic Republicans will not support a campaign with that turd in it.

I remember when Karl Rove used to be sort of a hero around here. Probably around 15 years ago when Bush and Gore were fighting out the election in the courts. Can you believe that much time has passed?

Anyhow, Karl Rove has turned out to be a jerk and an incompetent boob. I can't remember the last victory he had. He's probably gone longer without a hit than Barbara Streisand.

Karl could care less about Ben. He has zero interest in Ben winning. He only wants to USE him to help split the conservative vote.
