Russia is already exacting its revenge on Turkey for downing a Russian warplane

Russia is preparing to sanction Turkey in response to its downing of a Russian warplane earlier this week, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced in a televised cabinet meeting on Thursday, according to the BBC.

"The government has been ordered to work out a system of response measures to this act of aggression in the economic and humanitarian spheres," which may include "limits or bans" on "foodstuffs, labor, and services from Turkish companies," Medvedev said.

The sanctions "could bite into more than $30 billion in trade ties between the two countries, as police here began seizing Turkish products and deporting Turkish businessmen," The Washington Post's Andrew Roth and Karla Adam wrote on Thursday.

In an interview with France 24 on Thursday afternoon, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, "If we had known if it was a Russian plane maybe we would have warned it differently."

He added that his phone call to Russian President Vladimir Putin had gone unanswered.

So, as the Russians retaliate diplomatically and economically, the Turks are now claiming that they did NOT know that it was a Russian plane?

Sounds like they are now coming to the realization of the magnitude of their error..

I just can’t see any Turkish general being this ‘stupid’ to order on his own....a Russian plane to be shot down. The pilot who carried this out? I would bet that somewhere over the next twelve months...the KGB will get the guy’s name and get the Turkish mafia to hunt him down.

Erdogan's not gonna fire himself.

He could resign and offer himself up for trial for ordering the shoot down, taking full responsibility in order to avert a war; imagine if that had happened in 1914 instead of two world wars.

Next up -

Russia sponsors a resolution at the United Nations, saying “it’s time the world finally officially recognizes the terrible Armenian Genocide”.

Now THAT will really get the Turks’ heads exploding. Popcorn time!

I don’t think it was Erdogan himself but I could be wrong.

Believe they are throwing theTurkish FM under the bus

Erdogan is whining that Putin won’t return his calls

It’s now open source that Erdogan’s son Bilal is the de facto ISIS oil minister and shipping means and facilities have been identified

Should be an interesting week ahead

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Russia will halt tourism, trade, and cancel some projects, but I bet the ignore the minor incursions Turkey will no doubt make, probably by saying that the US or France told them about the aircraft in advance and therefore they knew the aircraft weren't a threat.

Think logistics, not flash in the pan PR stunts.

Russia will quietly make arrangements with someone, Egypt, maybe Iran via the Persian Gulf, maybe even Italy or Greece, to secure a route for fuel and supplies that isn't dependent on the Bosporus. That'll take a while but I'm pretty sure it will be worked out.

By then, the Caliph of Turkey will be puffed up and bragging about his "big win". That's when Russia will make him pay the piper, in spades.

There’s one for the books... about the dumbest thing that I’ve heard come out of anybody’s mouth who’s name wasn’t “Barak Obama”.

The Muslim "refugees" in Europe are gearing up for something like a "Tet Offensive" in 2016.

>>> “If we had known if it was a Russian plane maybe we would have warned it differently.”

In addition to this statement being contrary to prior admission of knowing who it was, I would ask, exactly whose supersonic high-performance fighter jet could it have been? And what answer, different than “Russia”, to that question would have justified shooting it down?

“If we had known if it was a Russian plane maybe we would have warned it differently.”

They should have known that it wasn’t one of the planes they supplied to ISIS.

Maybe Putin will revive the South Stream pipeline and cut Turkey off from the current system.
