The endorsements continue to roll in for Ted Cruz, who's also surging in the polls. Last week, two hundred faith leaders endorsed him for president. They were followed yesterday by actor and producer James Woods.
Woods -- who's best known for his roles in Once Upon a Time in America, Casino, and White House Down -- says he decided to support Cruz after a forty minute-long telephone conversation with the senator:

Woods went on to explain that Cruz could count on his support because he "has a strong posture in foreign policy and an unvarnished view of the domestic economic disaster that Obama has been." He added: "The recent tragedy in Paris affirmed that we cannot have a Commander-in-Chief who will sleep through a terrorist attack." Another reason Woods supports Cruz is his "steadfast devotion to conservative principles."

"Finally," Woods writes, "I found him to be truly down to earth. I believe he loves this country and like so many of us is appalled by the Obama debacle."

Earlier in the race, Woods endorsed Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of HP. He has now rescinded that endorsement (while saying he still greatly admires her) in favor of Cruz.
It's yet another sign that the Cruz campaign has taken off, and that most of the other candidates are now reduced to also-ran status.

In other recent news, solid constitutional conservative Virgil Goode, retired Congressman from Virginia has come out to endorse Donald Trump.
Good for him. Good to see a well known actor who’s not a lefty and not afraid to express it openly.
It does not bother me that he still respects Fiorina. That’s his business.
What do I care as long as he endorses Cruz?
Wasn’t he in so many very liberal movies? either he was liberal at the time or that must have hurt to do.
Of course Cruz is my first choice.
And of course I would vote for Trump in the general.
James Woods went M.I.T..
James Woods is one of the few actors whom I actually recognize. Didn’t realize he was a conservative though
Notice he hasn’t been in a movie lately.
Agreed, Woods is a good guy.
As more people are exposed to Ted Cruz and what he represents, they like him. Go Ted!
Unlike other Hollywood “celebs”, James Woods has a fairly sound mind and plenty of good sense.
In yet another post a Trump troll has no impulse control and reflexively posts irrelevant information on it. Pathetic.
Sheesh.
He and Chuck Woolery are prolific conservative leaning Tweeters.
I saw that yesterday. They spoke for a long phone conversation. How’d you like to be listening in to that one: two of the smartest men in America chatting?
I agree with James, that Cruz is the real deal, loves America, and understands her problems today. I think he’d make a great president too. But domestically, we have a huge problem in DC and it’s the two-party cabal that is on the take and thinks they own all of us. And it even feels like we are serfs to them. I’m not sure Cruz is old and wise and ballsy enough to clean up that swamp. I’m not sure Cruz can afford private protection to keep himself alive while the swamp is drained; I’d not 100% trust the Secret Service when some very highly connected people have their livelihoods threatened.
Let Trump get America back to the People again. It’s a painful task and it might be one’s last task.
Once that happens, President Cruz will understand the importance of running the country as a representative of US, not as a King. He will be able to lead the USA back to the dreams of the Founders and we will be able to tell Ben Franklin’s ghost we actually were able to keep the Republic.
I love James Woods as a man, a citizen, and an actor. He’s smart AND wise.
He’s been in a bunch of Oliver Stone films. If you regard Salvador, Nixon and Any Given Sunday as liberal films anyway.
Thank you, James.
Before 911 on the same flight of first crash to LA. He reported suspicious behavior of several passengers to the FBI who blew him off.
When you see some of his positions and statements, you’ll become a fan. Kind of refreshing, isn’t it?
Back in the 70’s ,he was in” The Way We Were” with Streisand and Redford. I would love to know what he thinks of them now.
Only saw Any Given Sunday and dont remember him in it.
Did you see the others? Were they liberal?
I’ve seen him in Casino (great) that movie about the cop that was shot in the woods, some crazy movie with Melanie Griffith, anything else slips my mind at the moment :)
Also, for FReepers who might not remember, James Woods was on the trial run flight of Mohammed Atta and his buddies from NYC to LA, and he was very unnerved by their behavior aboard the flight. He went to airport security and the FBI, but never heard anything. Until a month (or so?) later after 9/11 when suddenly the FBI was very interested in Mr. Woods’s report.
