Donald Trump has retaken his lead atop the GOP presidential field in Iowa, according to a new poll released Sunday on CBS's "Face the Nation."
Trump is polling at 30 percent in the all-important early voting state, and enjoys a 9-percentage-point lead over rival Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), in the CBS News 2016 "Battleground Tracker."
The results come several weeks after the same poll found Trump tied at 27 percent with retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson. Carson has dropped to 19 percent in the new poll.
Cruz picked up some of Carson's lost support. His 21 percent in the latest poll is a 9-percentage-point boost from that late October poll, which showed Trump and Carson in a dead heat.
According to CBS, Cruz took some key voting groups away from Carson, including evangelicals, Tea Party supporters and older voters.

Well it sure looks like if Trump and Cruz got something going in an alliance they would be unbeatable. They are a powerhouse of talent.
The GOP is a collapsing dynasty. They are so inept and incompetent that whatever they touch turns to crap.
That’s not possible. Trump has peaked too early and is on the way down. Nobody is buying his crap anymore. I read it in the newz. Several times, in fact.
It is wrong to put words into a candidates mouth or claim that they want to do something without any evidence. To then put that in your headline simply adds insult to injury. Maybe you should considet applying for a job with the mainstream media because your style of journalism would fit right in.

Wow....Trump’s 9 pts ahead of his closest competitor, Carson.....
In Iowa!!! That’s YUUGE!!
Trump has basically hit his ceiling in Iowa. They like social conservatives and no one believes Trump is one. If Cruz/Carson split, Trump can still win with a plurality. But just like there was a huge shift in the final days to Santorum last time, all the tea leaves point to the same happening for Cruz. He’s been received with glowing admiration in his appearances there. The voters are getting to the point where they’ve seen all the candidates and the more that happens, the more Cruz will be the one people settle on. The socially conservative leaders in Iowa are not afraid to endorse and they hold huge influence over the caucuses. It’s more and more likely that Cruz wins over almost all those leaders.
Wait til you see who Trump is going to work with.
The people in Iowa who were supporting Carson found out he is an empty pyramid.
What does bother me are his beliefs that the pyramids are ancient grain silos.
For some reason, that sounds "culty" to me, and that's a deal-breaker.
