Posted on 11/20/2015 12:50:01 PM PST by VinL
Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) refused to attack his 2016 opponent Donald Trump on Friday, despite a reporterâs persistent attempts to spark a war of words.
âIâm a big fan of Donald Trumpâs, but Iâm not a fan of government registries of Americans citizens,â he said when asked about Trumpâs remarks on the need for a Muslim-tracking database. âThe First Amendment protects religious liberty, and Iâve spent the past several decades defending the religious liberty of every American.â
When a reporter then pressed him on whether he was concerned about Trumpâs âmessagingâ as the frontrunner, Cruz shut down the line of questioning.
âListen, I like Donald Trump. I recognize the media would love to get me and other candidates to attack Donald Trump,â Cruz added. âThere may be other candidates who want to do that â I ainât going to do it. So, Iâll tell you my policy views, but I have no interest in attacking Donald Trump or, for that matter, attacking Ben Carson. Both are good men. And Iâm not interested in throwing rocks at either one of them.â

He knows he is going to get the VP slot
Rush shot from the lip on this today. Wonder of he will have the guts to walk it back Monday?
Good shut down. Filthy press jackals.
He should know by now that whatever the media claims Trump said is not true.....shouldn’t have responded to the question until he checked it out himself
Ted knows that when the VP is required to be in the Senate chamber the visceral schadenfreude of looking down on McTurtle, and Chuck E Cheese, he wants to be the one.
Brilliantly done Senator Cruz.
This is exactly the way a sucessful canidate positions themselves. Someone needs to teach Mr Trump how to do this. Wish all the GOP candidates everywhere learned to do this. N
ail the Democrats, and the media all you want, but stay on message, do not let the Media trick you into these ridiculous off topic personal attacks on other GOP canidates. The minute you attack a fellow Republican THAT attack, and not your message, becomes the story line
...and that would be another way to handle it.
I don’t get it. What did Trump supposedly say that was so bad? Monitoring immigrants at a time of terrorism? I’m more concerned that Hillary is not in prison.
Good for him. Excellent.
Reagan’s 11th Commandment.
Cruz is always a class act. I wish the Trump/Carson/Whatever supporters - AND all of the Cruz supporters on FR - would take a lesson from Senator Ted Cruz. We don’t need to attack the other republicans.
What we need is to choose the best conservative for president and do our best to bring all conservatives into the fold as supporters and then to bring independents, moderates, and even liberals from both parties into the tent to support a real leader who will do the right things for America, things that have to be done from 2017 to 2021 to have any chance of national survival.
I can’t think of a better way to answer the question. Basically he said ask me whatever you want about what I think. Ask Donald Trump about what he thinks.
Meanwhile Jebbie fired a blast through his own foot.
It is a manufactured scandal and even snopes has shot it down.
Walk back his fat mouth, what else?
