Spirit Airlines flight 969 was taxiing to the runway for its 6 a.m. ET departure when a passenger alerted a flight attendant to another passenger's "suspicious activity" on board the flight, the airline said.
A Maryland Transportation Authority (MTA) Police spokesperson told ABC News that law enforcement escorted three males and one female off the plane. They were then taken into custody at the airport.
The spokesman said the "suspicious activity" involved one of the male passengers viewing a news report on his smartphone.

No charges?
Must be members of a Protected Class.
Charge with what? Watching a newscast on a smartphone?
Ever read about how Nazis kept discipline in the communities?
Something here doesn't add up. If they were merely watching a newscast on a smartphone, why were all carry-on and checked bags re-screened?
I understand most people who work for the TSA are as dumb as bricks, but even they wouldn't go to something so time consuming without more of a threat than described.
Nazis aboard a plane, going on vacation.
The pilot comes on the intercom and announces ...
“You are going on a nice vacation.
You vill haff a good time.
You vill enjoy yourselfs.
You vill obey orders!”
Good point. And such protection is arguably a violation constitutional clauses which prohibit titles of nobility (1.9.8 and 1.10.1 ).
“See something, Say something” - well I guess that worked. Now for the lawsuits.
Gotta wonder if the complaining passenger was doing a little profiling.
The TSA keeps flunking govt.-conducted tests on actually finding things like planted bombs, guns, etc. in baggage. So, double checking may have been prudent.
a news report, eh?
or a beheading video? seems many of the “refugees” in Europe have been seen enjoying those on their cell phones
whatever this “middle eastern looking” man did set a women and her child bolting to the rear of the aircraft in terror and got him and 4 pals booted from the airplane
and they were NOT reboarded
I’m not surprised at the “middle eastern looking,”
but cannot find that in the article. Do you have
another source?
I have a question. Could this have been a decoy for something bigger or am I nuttier than I thought?
“The TSA keeps flunking govt.-conducted tests on actually finding things like planted bombs, guns, etc...”
Well of course they keep flunking tests. The morons they employ at the airports are dumber than a bag of hammers. TSA is nothing more than a government jobs program for members of a Protected Class who can’t find a job flipping burgers or operating a cash register.
TSA = Thousands Standing Around
Before Eric Holder left the DOJ, he and Barry saw to it that TSA also make it a priority to hire ex-cons.
If they were watching something grisly with an Arabic narration and muttering (or shouting) about akbar, the removal may well have been justified as a precaution. (There are videos of the Lebanon bombing like that with a lot of the 'akbar' stuff in the audio.)
I get the feeling they were not watching warm and fuzzy videos of Aunt Tillie's cat.
Neighbors spying on neighbors.
