Leading Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson believes that federal and state official overreacted in the case of Terri Schiavo, a Florida woman who died in 2005 as her husband and family battled over whether to keep her alive despite her vegetative state.
The case roiled the state of Florida and sparked an emotional national debate about the ethics, politics and spiritual significance of her life and death.

After speaking at a Republican Party conference here on Friday, a reporter asked Carson what he thought of the infamous case -- one that Bush speaks about occasionally as he mounts his own presidential campaign.
"We face those kinds of issues all the time and while I don't believe in euthanasia, you have to recognize that people that are in that condition do have a series of medical problems that occur that will take them out," he said. "Your job [as a doctor] is to keep them comfortable throughout that process and not to treat everything that comes up."

Take a breath, I meant before he did any more damage.
OMG MY RIBS!!! ROFL ROFL
“Dr Ben NyQuil” ROFL ROFL
just saw a carson ad here in Nevada. He is mealymouth creepy. Disturbing.
She was starved to death. The explanation was starvation brings Euphoria.
He didn’t say that. That’s an editorialized headline.
Oh I see, Doctor. Starving an American citizen without due process is “nothing”. Gotcha.
Shut up and go away now please.
Does that include starvation, Ben?
“Looks like Dr Ben really does not want to win.”
Looks to me like Trump has Ben rattled. Ben has been saying a lot of things that are losing him Conservative support.
There are far too many, here, who, though they are for another candidate...or so they claim, they ALWAYS jump in to protect him from being harmed by “evil” people who dare to tell the truth/facts about him.
“Chauncey Gardener” Ben Carson is much ado about nothing.
Indeed, all these Trumpsters who support a guy who gave 100,000 dollars to the Clinton Foundation, invited her to his wedding, believes socialized health care is working great in Canada and just terrific in Scotland, thinks Eminent Domain is just terrific, just 3 years ago complained that Romney was too tough on illegals because he wanted to enforce eVerify which would have the effect of drying up the jobs they come here for, once wanted to impose a massive wealth tax, was a Democrat for 8 of 10 years between 2000-2010, wanted Nancy Pelosi to impeach GW Bush, etc. You mean those hard leftists?
Would he have referred her husband to Dr. Kevorkian?
Yes, it is disappointing. I know Carson had referred patients to PP for abortions. But to say this about Schiavo is terribly cruel.
It's a quote directly from Ben Carson!!!!
When the reporter asked whether Carson thought it was necessary for Congress to intervene, he said: "I don't think it needed to get to that level. I think it was much ado about nothing."
Except she wasn’t treated. Her husband withheld therapy for her. Furthermore, starving a person to death is always unacceptable. Good and water are not heroic medical treatments.
I know that and the state was clearly wrong.
I’m talking about Dr. Carson’s comments. He did not push euthanasia, though that’s how it is being spun.
A dispassionate medical answer. Not defensible as a candidate.
Just dont compare his pathology to a child molester. Too many panties around here will get soaked.
Go away Carson. Far far away.
