He’s been known to drift into a drawl when quoting Ronald Reagan on the campaign trail and once jokingly auditioned for “The Simpsons.” But Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, who once aspired to be an actor, saves his best impressions for his favorite movie, “The Princess Bride.”
In an interview while taping a “Candidate Cafe” segment for radio station WMUR in New Hampshire, Mr. Cruz acted out an entire scene from the movie.

He did his impressions of both Billy Crystal and Carol Kane, as well as the often impersonated character Inigo Montoya (portrayed in the 1987 film by Mandy Patinkin), while acting out a scene in which he switched from character to character without missing a beat, all from memory.
“That’s why I love that movie,” Mr. Cruz said as he finished to applause.
It wasn’t the first time that “The Princess Bride” made its way into Mr. Cruz’s campaign.
During a campaign event last month at Iowa Central Community College, Mr. Cruz quoted the movie while criticizing media reports on the Affordable Care Act.
“You keep on using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means,” he told the crowd, in the Spanish staccato of Mr. Montoya.
“That’s inconceivable!” a man shouted from the audience, quoting another famous line from the movie.
Mr. Cruz was impressed.
“Now that’s the best line,” he said to the man, before quickly dropping back into Mr. Montoya. “Allo, my name is Inigo Montoya. Prepare to die.”

Glad to see Ted has a sense of humor.
LOL. Love that movie.
He has talent and a sense of humor.
He looks like a fag. Try to find a video of candidate Reagan doing something like this. Again, as I’ve written before with these limp-Richards, why can’t I read about his time during Ranger School or leading a unit in Desert Storm. WTF, over.
Ok, and who is YOUR candidate?
I’ve seen enough of Cruz’s cartoon imitations, but I suppose that everyone has their method of lightening the mood.
Being a full-on candidate for any length of time, is grueling work.
I doubt anyone is good enough for him.
What are you talking about? So what if Cruz has fun acting sometimes? Reagan was an actual actor. And while having a candidate who has a good military record is a plus, this should haven’t to be a requirement for a good candidate.
In before the “Ted Cruz looks like a fag” contingent shows up.....oops, too late.
Never seen "Bedtime for Bonzo"?
Everyone needs to lighten up sometime, just to keep from dying from stress overload.
*shouldn’t have to be
.
Candidate Reagan.
Actually the quote is, "Allo. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." As any real "Princess Bride" fan knows.
He’s surprisingly popular with millennials because of this sort of thing.
A 20 something told me that he saw Ted Cruz speak at Mackinac about policy and he thought Ted Cruz was “just another Bible Thumper” till he stepped off the stage and started chatting with some young people about movies and video games with real knowledge of them.
So who is your candidate for 2016?
if he did this but used the movie Frozen he will be the most epic dad ever...
