'Communists will be hanging': Nationalist march commemorates Poland's Independence Day

A nationalist march is underway in Warsaw to commemorate Poland's Independence Day, with authorities bracing themselves for a crowd of around 50,000. Marches in recent years have turned violent, with police using rubber bullets and water cannons.

The Independence March, an annual event marking the anniversary of the country gaining autonomy from Russia, Prussia, and Austria in 1918, following 123 years of partitions, is organized by the National Front Group. It is seen as a showcase for anti-EU politicians who are seeking to revive Polish nationalism. Such politicians accuse the EU of being the biggest threat to the country's sovereignty.

Marching through the streets on Wednesday, the protesters shouted: “On the trees, instead of leaves, Communists will be hanging,” according to reports on social media.

Nationalism is rising in Poland. They just recently elected a more right-wing government to replace for center-right one.

RT is not a fan of Polish nationalism, and one suspects RT editors view Poland as another break-away Republic, like everything else that was formerly part of the Soviet sphere of influence, from Finland to Romania.

Communists and leftists are not popular in Poland. The remnant Communist Party is so small it has no representation in the government.

RT rather typically invokes the specter of Polish anti-Semitism. A valid topic perhaps, but certainly not the focus of the protest. (And certainly Russian anti-semitism is second to none.)

Banners at end of Warsaw nationalist march: "Poland for Poles" and "Stop the Islamisation of Poland".

Poles clearly understand that Poland only exists because of the unending determination of the Polish people. It has been literally wiped off the map of Europe several times, most recently in WW2 when it was divided between Nazi Germnay and Stalin's Communist Russia, but prior arrangement.

The Poles are the least likely nation to allow the German Prime Minister to accomplish with EU Central Bank manipulation and EU beauracrats what Hitler was unable to accomplish with the Wehrmacht - the dissolution of Polish solidarity and the replacement of the Polish people with millions of alien invaders.

It helps that they have avoided the trap on the Euro, keeping their own currency.

Ah

The million student ‘march’ on the Polish Independence Day...

Commies know their anniversaries, too.

From Breitbart

“education as a human right.” Protesters are calling for tuition-free public college, cancellation of student debt, and a $15 minimum wage for college workers…”

11.57 ET
Breitbart’s Lee Stranahan reports that Missouri activist Jonathan Butler falsified a key claim about the school’s president. It turns out Butler was never hit by the president’s car, as he claimed. Instead he ran towards it....
(AKA, he learned how to do it in Ferguson? That’ where it started)

Speaking of Poland and anniversaries...

"On 10 April 2010, a Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft of the Polish Air Force crashed near the city of Smolensk, Russia, killing all 96 people on board.

Among the victims were the President of Poland Lech Kaczynski and his wife Maria, the former President of Poland in exile Ryszard Kaczorowski, the chief of the Polish General Staff and other senior Polish military officers, the president of the National Bank of Poland, Polish Government officials, 18 members of the Polish Parliament, senior members of the Polish clergy and relatives of victims of the Katyn massacre.

The group was arriving from Warsaw to attend an event marking the 70th anniversary of the [Katyn] massacre, which took place not far from Smolensk."

April 2014...

Did Putin Blow Up the Whole Polish Government in 2010?
A Second Look

A plane crash at Smolensk in Russia four years ago wiped out the Warsaw leadership. It used to be seen as an accident. Now, after Putin's games in Ukraine, people aren't so sure.

Four years ago this week, Polish President Lech Kaczynski was killed in a plane crash near the Katyn Forest in Russia where he was flying to honor the 22,000 Polish officers, lawyers, priests and professors slaughtered there by the Soviets 70 years before. Ninety-five other military, political and public figures including his wife died on that plane. One of the more heartbreaking details to emerge was that First Lady Maria Kaczynska's body could be identified only by her nail polish and the inscription inside her wedding ring.

Less than two years before the crash the late president had given a speech warning that if Russian aggression was not stopped in Georgia, which Russia had invaded, it would extend to Ukraine, the Baltics, and possibly Poland as well. "We are here to take up the fight," he said. And many Poles still believe that their president died in the cause of that effort. Physicist Kazimierz Nowaczyk is one of them. ..."

50,000 people is a lot to counter-protest with six guys.

From another article on this event:

"At the end of October Poland’s eurosceptic Law and Justice party (PiS) claimed victory in a record breaking election that put the ex-Communist state on a collision course with key EU allies.

The landslide election victory meant there was not a single left-wing MP remaining in the Polish parliament."

Imagine a Congress with no Democrats, perhaps a ruling Tea Party with minority Republicans and Libertarians. We are no where near that. The left is not discredited in the USA, in fact it's embraced by millions.

So our future is an endless struggle against leftists. Which is why I sometimes wonder if partition might be the better option.

Thanks Jack Black, in particular for highlighting the source of the agitprop, which is Russia Today, Putin's buttpiece.

It is not that rosy. Law and Justice is economic left. Much more left than the Democrats. Previous ruling party Civic Platform was economic right. European press calls them both right wing - one for nationalism and one for their economic policies.

Interesting, I'll admit I don't know a lot about either one of these parties.

Law and Justice from Wikipedia;

Initially the party was broadly pro-market, although less so than the Civic Platform.[23] It has adopted the social market economy rhetoric of western European Christian democratic parties.[16] In the 2005 election, the party shifted to the protectionist left on economics.[23] As Prime Minister, Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz was more economically liberal than the Kaczyńskis, advocating a position closer to Civic Platform.[24] However, unlike Civic Platform, whose emphasis is the economy, Law and Justice's focus is fighting corruption.[23]

On foreign policy, PiS is Atlanticist and less supportive of European integration than Civic Platform.[23] The party is soft eurosceptic,[5][6] and opposes a federal Europe. In its campaigns, it emphasises that the European Union should 'benefit Poland and not the other way around'.[25] It is a member of the anti-federalist Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists, having previously been a part of the Alliance for Europe of the Nations and, before that, the European People's Party.[16][26]

Here is the Civic Platform description from Wikipedia:

The Civic Platform combines ordoliberal stances on the economy with social conservative stances on social and ethical issues, including opposition to abortion, same-sex marriage, soft drug decriminalisation, euthanasia, fetal stem cell research, removal of crosses and other religious symbols in schools and public places, and partially to wide availability of in vitro fertilisation. The party also wants to criminalise gambling and supports religious education in schools. Other socially conservative stances of the party include voting to ban designer drugs and amending the penal code to introduce mandatory chemical castration of paedophiles. It is somewhat less strident on social issues than Law and Justice, however.

Core proposals from the party programme in the past included privatisation of the remaining public sectors of Polish economy, direct elections of mayors and regional governors, the first-past-the-post electoral system instead of proportional representation, labor law reform, independence over monetary policy by the National Bank of Poland, a 15% flat-rate income tax, and the decentralisation of the state. As of the third year of Civic Platform's rule, privatisation is creeping with only a few enterprises privatised every year,[24] while governmental oppression and bureaucracy are rising, hence many accusations of populism and opportunism have been occurring.[25]

Despite declaring in the parliamentary election campaign the will to limit taxation in Poland the Civic Platform has in fact increased it. The party refrained from implementing the flat tax, increasing instead the value-added tax from 22% to 23% in 2011.[26] It has also increased the excise imposed on diesel oil, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and coil.[27][28] The party has eliminated many tax exemptions.[29][30][31]
