Trump, Carson lead [] Jeb [] dips to 3% [Trump 32% Carson 18% Economist/YouGov poll]
Economist/YouGov ^ | November 5 -9 2015

As the Republican candidates for President get ready for their next debate tonight, the potential 2016 GOP voters continue to express their support for non-traditional candidates. Businessman Donald Trump and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson maintain their lead in the latest Economist/YouGov Poll as the top choices of registered voters who identify as Republicans. Carson pulls even with Trump when Republican voters name their second choice: just about four in ten say each man is their first or second choice.

I’ve been saying since the second debate, anyone still in the single digits shouldn’t be on stage.

“The three major networks in their morning shows all failed to mention Cruz’ name. Believe me, that was not an accident.”

Yup, if they can’t call you crazy, they ignore you. That’s what they did to my biography of Harry Reid.

Jeb can fix everything but his poll numbers.

Agreed. Trump will need a soft voice polite guy on the ticket to pick up that support. If not Carson himself, then Cruz or somebody like Jeff Sessions.

Combining 1st and 2 nd gives rube 27 and Cruz 26, so he is still fourth place

“The three major networks in their morning shows all failed to mention Cruz’ name. Believe me, that was not an accident.”

Yep.

That happens all the time. It is not an oversight.

It happens on GOPe media like Salem Radio with Hugh Hewitt and Michael Medved and others, as well.

I noticed this a long tome ago that these media outlets, liberal mainstream and GOPe both have had a tactic of ignoring Cruz, pretending like he s not there. It is a tactic.

Examples abound. A few days ago there was a thread with a link to a quiz to see what candidate the quiz take most matches.

The page feature a montage of candidates, conspicuously absent being Ted Cruz.

Who remembers the “original” Linda Lovelace?

She’s the Deep Throat star. Wikipedia has a page on her. Here’s a quote from her: there’s nothing wrong with looking sexy as long as it’s done with taste.

“Taste” ... get it?

I think first or second choice is a good way to gage things.

Trump 42
Carson 41
Rubio 27
Cruz 26

Next one not even half Cruz.

The distance between 1st and 2nd is virtually the same as the distance between 2nd and 10th. That should be the headline.

Why should anyone with 3% appear in any debate? These debates are a waste of time and simply give the Democrat media an opportunity to feel relevant. They should be limited to no more than four debates, two before the convention and two after. The GOPe should not be in the business of enriching the enemy by boosting their TV ratings.

Aside our favorite candidates - the Jeb Bush collapse is stupendous as is the Christie collapse. Even Bobby Jindal collapsed - what happened?

Also, I don't get why Cruz is stuck in single digits? He gets more free press and talk show airtime than anyone - all favorable. So why is he not leading?

I also think the rest of the candidates are running for influence or to be a potential VP.

On the other hand, 26 and 27 are within the margin of error, so it’s possible that Cruz is in third place.

The only two candidates who can handle Hillary on the debate stage are Cruz and Trump. Possibly, Rubio. She will decimate Carson.

I think the 2 - 3% are staying in to see what the real numbers are when some of the front runner outsiders collapse or leave or whatever. That is the only reason they are staying in with 2 - 3 %

"Also, I don't get why Cruz is stuck in single digits? "

It's possible many of his supporters are in the Trump camp believing Trump is the one who can actually win the election next year. If Trump gets the nomination and chooses Cruz as VP it would an awesome ticket with Trump getting all of Cruz's hardcore grassroots support.
