Dr. Ben Carson's whole life has been very unusual, so perhaps we should not be surprised to see the latest twist -- the media going ballistic over discrepancies in a few things he said.
Years ago, when I was writing some autobiographical sketches, I dug up old letters, to check out things that I remembered -- and was surprised more than once to discover that my memory was not always exactly the same as the way things had happened and were recorded at the time.
In the current flap over some things that Dr. Carson said, the biggest discrepancy has been between the furor in the media and the irrelevance of his statements to any political issue.
For example, in a video that someone dug up, Dr. Carson said to an audience that his "theory" about the Pyramids is that they were used as storage facilities. He was smiling as he said this, so it is not clear whether he was using this theory just to illustrate some point. But, in any case, he was not claiming this as a fact.
More important, the Pyramids are not an issue in today's American political campaign, except as a "gotcha" gimmick.
Yet the media have paid far more attention to Ben Carson's speculation about what the Pyramids were built for, thousands of years ago, than to outright lies that Hillary Clinton told about tragic American deaths in Benghazi, within days after she knew the truth, as her own e-mails now reveal.
Another media tempest in a teapot has developed because of the mild-mannered Dr. Carson's recollections about some childhood incidents in which he depicted himself as violent toward another child...

“Essentially true” = not actually true
Ditto, but I would prefer Ted Cruz or Rick Santorum.
That said, both Carson and Dr. Sowell are a lot closer to the Framers' ideal of a public-citizen/servant than anything urped up by the 'Rats and RiNO's in the last 24 years, with the possible exception of George W. Bush.
I give up. I don’t think we would get along in real life.
I say I’ll be home in “a half hour” even when GPS says 31 minutes, and I always lose a few minutes from the GPS estimate. What kind of man lies to his wife? [There I go again, I’m sure it’s actually 90% to 95% of the time, but not quite “always”]
I used to verbally report my polls as having an uncertainty of +/- 3% even when the written report said +/- 3.1% and +/- 3.14% would have been more precise. What kind of professional lies to his clients?
When I made dinner last night, my wife asked what was in it. I told her the main ingredients but didn’t mention salt, pepper, or butter. What kind of man lies to his wife on multiple issues?
I even fib in church - whoppers that people should know are absolute prevarications. I referred to something that happened about 1,985 years ago as “2,000 years ago”. What kind of Christian lies in church? At least in Church I can hope to be forgiven for my sins, including all the lies.
I say things that are “not actually true” too much for your tastes. It’s a shame too. It must be lonely if you reject all the liars you meet.
[On topic, Carson is not one of my top choices. I prefer Cruz and then Trump. I hope the two of them are not too dishonest for you too, especially with Trump’s lies - his wealth is surely not exactly $10 billion, and it may not even be close.]
It started in our education camps; where NO ONE is allowed to lose...

Someone watches too much H2 on cable...
LOL
I know just a WEE bit about storage bins.
It is that they are usually quite HOLLOW on the inside.
"False but accurate."
So do I, having observed silo construction. You are presuming he means mass storage for the whole country; you don't know that either.
I’m more concerned that Carson wants to let all the illegals stay and make them all citizens and make Puerto Rico a state than I am that he’s got a kooky belief about the ancient pyramids.
Just as I'm more concerned that Trump wants to let the bulk of them back in, and then some.
Welcome back, old cow! Yeah, that cap on the Pyramid, accortding to Heroditus (?), was gold covered. Nice electrical terminal that.
Big whoopdedangdoodoo. The current occupant is an Indonesian married to a tranny and they're worried about this?
How do I know you are not presuming about what I know?
Because I can parse English sentences, presuming you aren't delusional or a liar. Take your pick.
Golly!
A trait we seem to have in common!
You are presuming he means mass storage for the whole country; you don't know that either.
No, I had a basis; you did not, but I'm starting to regret the charity of that presumption.
I presume you might be right.
Sorry, your account is too new to use this feature.
Let's just say a certain sacred cow had been told that the emperor had no clothes one too many times.
Been zotted for the same reason, E;sie. Sacred cows are sometimes the noisiest.
