They used to be called juvenile delinquents. But not any more.
The new term is "justice-involved youth," a non-disparaging, government-speak phrase that fits with the Obama administration's recent push to give people with criminal convictions a second chance to become productive citizens.
"The Department of Justice is committed to giving justice-involved youth the tools they need to become productive members of society," Attorney General Loretta Lynch said in a news release on Monday.

The Rats are pandering to their base ... again!
JD, JI... not much diff, /S.
What’s bothersome is this incessant desire to pull descriptive words out of the language. Orwell talked about this at some length in 1984 and in his essays.
Correction: Yootes.
The “involvement” here is quite heavy.
This gaggle of idiots would appreciate it if you would promptly revise your posting guidelines.
Give it 10 years and “justice-involved youth” will be a pejorative. These Libs never seem to get that its not the label that creates the negative view of the people, its the peoples’ actions. A rose by any other name . . . . .
Fixed it.
“juvenile delinquent” describes an individual in current conflict with the legal system.
One can’t identify the behavioral issue and be politically correct, it appears.
Lynch has taken Justice - the concept and the department - to even lower lows than Holder.
She is a contemptible hack.
#WordsMatter LOL
Words matter, except to leftists. They feeeeeel that euphemisms will disorient and misdirect people away from the clear meaning of things.
They are mistaken.
The Further Adventures of Gibmedat and Dindonuffin
RIFF:
Dear kindly Sergeant Krupke
You gotta understand
It’s just our bringing up-ke
That get us out of hand
Our mothers all are junkies
Our fathers all are drunks
Golly Moses, naturally we’re punks!
RIFF and QUARTET:
Gee, Officer Krupke, we’re very upset
We never had the love that every child ought to get
We ain’t no delinquents
We’re misunderstood
Deep down inside us there is good!
The biggest fraud in this area is the inability of judges to consider crimes committed under the age of 18 when sentencing adults convicted of a crime.
I think juvenile records should be off limits as long as the individual does not commit a crime once he or she reaches the age of majority. But if they are convicted of a crime, then it all comes back for consideration in the sentencing phase.
Time to knock off this crap that when someone hits the magic age of 18 they suddenly grow up (Lord knows I didn’t).
So instead of identifying the suspects by name (DeMarcus, Ja’havier, Quisohn, and stuff like that), they will now just say they were “justice-involved youths”.
All. Righty. Then.
Why not just stick with “teens”? It was easier, simpler and we all knew what it meant.
“These Libs never seem to get that its not the label that creates the negative view of the people, its the peoplesâ actions.”
I would also add, that by changing the negative descriptive language or labels to force people to try to be more politically correct only serves to raise the ire of those being coerced into using that language. A good example of this is ‘illegal alien’ vs. ‘undocumented immigrant’.
And Obama is merely a citizenship-challenged, veracity-deficient prospective worldwide Caliph
No, wait... that's supposed to be normal now.
