Obama to Announce Steps to Help Ex-Prisoners (criminals) Find Jobs and Housing
New York Times ^ | November 2, 2015 | By Peter Baker

WASHINGTON — President Obama plans to announce a series of small initiatives on Monday intended to make it easier for former prisoners to find jobs and live in subsidized housing, part of his broader drive to remake the criminal justice system.

In a trip to Newark, Mr. Obama will visit a residential drug-treatment center, Integrity House, to highlight efforts to ease the re-entry of offenders leaving prison. He will then convene a round-table discussion at the Newark campus of Rutgers University with Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey and Mayor Ras J. Baraka of Newark. . .

. . .Mr. Obama will direct the federal Office of Personnel Management to delay inquiries into criminal history until later in the hiring process for federal jobs, so that applicants are not rejected before having a chance to impress. Most federal agencies have already taken this step, but a White House statement said it would help ensure that former prisoners “receive a fair opportunity to compete for federal employment.”

Mr. Obama will not “ban the box” altogether, to use the language of activists who want the federal government and private employers to eliminate the box on job applications asking if a prospective employee has been convicted of a crime. But Mr. Obama has called on Congress to pass legislation doing so. . .

And in a few years we’ll be hearing (from the UK press only) horrifying stories of things these same people have done since their early release.

NO need for them to actually find the voting booth.

Just get their names on the voting rolls and the precinct workers will take care of the voting for them. 3 or 4 times, even.

No government jobs.

Lawsuit reform so employers can’t be sued.

That would be about all you can do.

I think the objective is to make it illegal to hire a white male with no criminal record unless you can prove that no ex-con, minority, illegal alien, or woman was willing to take the job (regardless of qualifications).

He’s doing it in my area. When I first moved here 3 years ago, the place was a semi-paradise with a huge conservative majority.

Little by little, trickle by trickle, his feral supporters have been marching in. And I know they can’t afford to live here on their own.

Now we’ve got a “Halal Meat Shop” (blood sacrificed to Satan/Allah) in our area also.

What a $hithole Obola has turned this nation into!

Mayor Ras Baraka is the son of the late Communist Party member Amiri Baraka (aka Leroy Jones) and brother of CPUSA member Amini Baraka.

Mayor of Newark: Seems the people there are still stupid as dog shit. Corey Booker was okay but never lived up to the media hype that he was the great Black Hope. He could have been but got coopted or allowed himself to be coopted by the politically corrupt dreams of power that dominated the Democrat Party. “Party Uber Alles”.

Better get more body bags, folks.

Based on his success with jobs in the non criminal society I think it is safe to say that even fewer ex cons will be employed in the future.

Well I think the solution is rather obvious. Simply hire them as prison guards. They already know the system and all the ways to cheat the system. They would still be inside the prison for at least nine hours a day and we know it is difficult to recruit, train and retain guards. Win-win for everyone and their salaries are less than the cost of keeping them incarcerated.

Hey. Finally he does something that I can agree with. Its a damn shame that Republicans aren't doing more to take the lead on helping ex-cons by making it easier for them to get a job. I'm not saying ban looking into their criminal histories but there are things that can be done.
