The Dallas Morning News reports Ted Cruz’s campaign “raised $1.1 million in 22 hours” after the CNBC debate by “declaring war on the liberal media agenda.” It’s the third straight million-dollar post-debate fundraising haul for the campaign.
“They illustrate why the American people don’t trust the media and why we have to take back the debate if we want to win,” read a “Fire the Media” email signed by Cruz. “We shouldn’t be trying to get people to tear into each other. We should be getting to the heart of the issues.”
This led Chicago Tribune columnist Rex Huppke to write an allegedly humorous column declaring war on Ted Cruz:
OFFICIAL DECLARATION OF WAR:
Whereas Ted Cruz has formally declared war against the people of the mainstream (or lamestream or liberal) media of the United States of America:
Therefore, be it Resolved by the Secret Cabal of Liberal Media Overlords that the state of war between the media and Ted Cruz, which has thus been thrust upon the media by Ted Cruz being a total jerk, is hereby formally declared. Rex Huppke, as a representative of the media, is hereby authorized and directed to employ the entire forces available to the media, including but not limited to: pens that can be waved in a menacing manner; paper-cut inducing notepads; barrels of ink; and limitless Internet space, to carry on war against Ted Cruz and to bring the conflict to a successful termination.
Strap on your boots, Teddy boy. We’re comin’ for ya now. And we’ve got the weapon you fear the most: the truth.
Huppke also mocked the Republicans on Twitter:
Debate changes requested by GOP candidates:
- not televised
- moderated by Reagan
- no questions
- Hannity in green room for snuggling
— Rex Huppke (@RexHuppke) November 1, 2015 |
This is the "pinned tweet" (from 2011) that sits at the top of Huppke's Twitter page:
My favorite part of the Bible is where Jesus gives money to the rich, tells the poor to suck it up and asks for Caesar's birth certificate. — Rex Huppke (@RexHuppke) April 23, 2011 |

The media has been at war with its own audience for decades.
Based on the sagging sales, lawoffs and sinking viewerships I don’t think the media is winning.
But hey, who am I to argue with the smartest people in the room?

Mr. Cruz is the best candidate to bring the battle right back to the cadre soldiers of the internationalist, left-wing, Democrat party, propaganda ministers.
IMHO

An attention whore sees the possibility for attention by attacking Cruz. Don’t give it the attention it is whoring for just ignore it and it will pop like the puss filled pimple it is.

When it is proved that on a consistent basis, the media provides the truth instead of deliberate disinformation/lies to futher an anti-God agenda, I will switch sides. Otherwise, have simply had all I can take of media's evil narrative/agenda. Is my statement ambiguous or unclear?
I have a solution for this.

It’s funny because this guy’s twitter from 2011 shows very clearly how his agenda is that of the Democrat party. It is very healthy for the GOP for the media to be in open warfare. Their biggest advantage so far has been stealth, acting like an independent source of “news” when in reality they coordinate with the message of the Democrat party.
With due respect to him and other media type, more and more of the public do not accept that they are peddling in “truth”.

“...that the state of war between the media and Ted Cruz,...is hereby formally declared.”
But, but, but, the media is supposed to report news without interjecting their own beliefs into the reporting. I am really old and remember when news was news without anyone pontificating their own opinions. I remember when debates were held and candidates talked about issues of government.
Declaring war on Ted Cruz means the media is about to bite the dust.

It appears Mr. Humpty Dumpty Huppke is not a Christian. Judging by his tweets, an irreverent, insolent, sacrilegious, arrogant and scurrilous b*****d waiting for his comeuppance would be a fair way of stating with this silly fool is.

There is one way to handle this media thing, bring them to their knees...
Don't watch cable, don't read on line, every-time you post something from like the Washington Compost, etc, they get a hit and then someone wants to read the article, they get a hit again...don't buy newspapers...hit them in the wallet, look at what happened with Fox and Trump...Fox came crawling back because they were loosing ratings...same thing for Cruz...
I'm a 100% for Trump person, but Cruz is the other and only other good man in the candidates, so lets blitzes them...I don't know how to get the news but if we can shut them down and make them crawl, we need to do it....all they do is lie to us any ways so lets get them the heat for once....

Donald Trump has called the Liberal MSM out frequently ... for some peculiar reason Ted Cruz's rebuttal had a special power to it (who knows why) that seems to have ignited an atomic bomb ...
"If" ... "If" ... the GOP candidate field has it's (own) debate with Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin and Steyn ...
then HISTORY gets changed ... forever.
BTW ... I would recommend that Sarah Palin, Allen West ... and Jim Robinson be on the panel as well ...

You know, here's the advantage of having Rush, Levin, Mark Steyn ... as well as others such as Allen West, Sarah Palin, and Jim Robinson ...
Donald Trump has made the GOP Presidential Debates a "must see" media entertainment event, where literally millions of non-conservatives have watched ... because of Donald Trump ...
So ... from that perspective, what about the MSM inspired perceptions of conservatives, especially Rush Limbaugh ?
I propose that the "event" have (an auxiliary goal) of showing Rush Limbaugh in a positive light, and NOT the white racist Neanderthal that's the MSM has demonized him to be.
Dittos for Sarah Palin.
Dittos for Free Republic (Jim Robinson).
Example questions that these folks could present that would give Millenials, Non-Conservatives, etc. a fairer picture of the modern American Conservative political movement:
1) Rush Limbaugh ... focus on the "real unemployment rate" and that 51-percent of ALL American job holdres make less than $ 30,000 each year ... that's "kind", "compassionate", and an issue that Millenials UNDERSTAND ...
2) Allen West ... focus on harsh reality of "Islamic Jihad in America" especially vis-a-via the 200,000 Syrian-ISIS "refugee-terrorists" that Obama-Kerry want to import into America ...
3) Jim Robinson (Free Republic) ... focus on Obama's Internet censorship proposals ... and how it hurts the FREE SPEECH of Millenials ...
4) Sarah Palin ... focus on Obama's Foreign Polcy debacle(s) ... and how they hurts the SAFETY of Millenials ...
5) Mark Levin ... focus on Obama's raping of the U.S. Constitution ... and how it threatens the LIBERTY of Millenials ...
6) Marcus Luttrell (NRA Advocate) ... focus on Obama's raping of the U.S. Constitution ... and how it threatens the Second Admendment Rights of Millenials ...

Just some ideas ...
